New Apostolic Exhortation: The Pope has issued the Apostolic Exhortation "Evangelii Gaudium" containing the results of the 2012 Synod of Bishops. In it Francis askes – quote – to go "new ways". He proposes a – quote - "reform of the papacy". Thus Francis opposes a – quote - over-centralization of the Church. The Episcopal Conferences should have a – quote - "authentic teaching authority". Francis criticizes explicitely those who keep the liturgy, the teaching of the faith and the reputation of the Church in too high regard.

No Donations: The “Catholic Campaign for Human Development” has been criticized for giving money to promoters of abortion and homosexuality. According to the “American Life League” the Campaign has made overall improvement during 2013, though there are still a large number of morally problematic grantees. The Campaign is for instance still giving money to Community Action Board, which provides for abortion and contraception. The American Life League encourages people to withhold their donations and to convince their bishops to take action.

Freedom For Catholics: Last week U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab granted an injunction sought by the Dioceses of Pittsburgh and Erie and several affiliated nonprofit groups that allows them to continue to offer insurance that doesn't include contraception, sterilization and abortion-inducing drugs while litigation continues. The so called American Civil Liberties Union filed an amicus brief in order to oppose liberty and freedom for the two Catholic dioceses.

Just days before his election to the Chair of Peter, Pope Francis, approved a text submitted by a private prayer group in Argentina that is praying for the canonization of Gilbert Keith Chesterton – according to Dale Ahlquist, the president of the American Chesterton Society. Chesterton was a convert to Catholicism, as is Ahlquist. The latter became a Catholic while reading Chesterton’s works.
