The risen Jesus walks with us.

"The risen Jesus is our traveling companion on our life's journey in order to kindle in our hearts the warmth of faith and hope and break the bread of eternal life."

At his Regina Caeli address, Benedict XVI commented on the Sunday Gospel's account of Jesus with the disciples on the road to Emmaus, saying that each of us can identity with the two disciples and their doubts and misunderstandings. The road to Emmaus, therefore, becomes the road to a more mature, pure faith. Meeting the risen Jesus leads to a strong faith that builds and renews the Church, a faith that is nourished by the Word of God and the Eucharist at Sunday Mass. The Pope also greeted the participants of the First World Congress on Divine Mercy, which ended earlier the same day with Mass celebrated by Cardinal Schoenborn in St. Peter's Basilica.
