In staying so focused, though, they are undervaluing the very traditional approach that Pope Francis is taking to deliver the message of Jesus directly to average people on the street. Leading by example, he is encouraging the hierarchy of the Church to get out of their 'Ivory towers' and deal more directly with people to spread the gospel. I have no problem with the Latin mass and enjoy going to one on occasion. We do not need the pope as our spiritual compass. We are not obligated to agree with statements that he makes or decisions that are made by him- unless they are regarding faith and morals. I know I've heard the tired old cliche: "Do you think you are more Catholic than the Pope?" This cult of pope has to stop. Not every pope is a saint just because he wears a white cassock. The world will hate you because it hated me Our Blessed Lord said. The Church does not need to gain acceptance but to fearlessly and zealously defend Catholic Doctrine. That is what a pope needs to do.
