The Holy Father authorized the Congregation for the Causes of Saints to promulgate decrees regarding the martyrdom of 18 Spanish Benedictines, 4 Discalced Carmelites, one diocesan priest, 65 little Brothers of Mary and 4 sisters Servants of Mary. All were killed by the Communists during the Spanish Civil War between 1936 and 1939.

Nadine Brown, the foundress of the Intercessors of the Lamb in Omaha, Nebraska died on June 3rd. The Hermit Intercessors of the Lamb was a Association of priests, brothers, nuns, and lay people. It was suppressed by Omaha Archbishop George Joseph Lucas in 2010 after a canonical visitation that uncovered widespread dissatisfaction with leadership, lack of safe environment policies, violation of privacy of the confessional, use of intimidation tactics to secure obedience from the members and irreverent custody of the Blessed Sacrament. Nadine Brown was formerly a member of the Sisters of the Cross of the Good Shepherd Congregation in Minnesota.

Fréjus-Toulon bishop Dominique Rey in Vatican Insider publicly cautioned the critiques of Pope Francis’ liturgical behavior – quote: “Instead of anxiously wondering what Pope Francis personally thinks about every liturgical detail, we would do better to get on with the work we ourselves have to do.” But Rorate Caeli that has criticized the pope’s liturgies answers – quote: “It does not seem to be intellectually appropriate to appreciate every single liturgical gesture of Pope Ratzinger and then ignore "every liturgical detail" of Pope Bergoglio because "we have work to do." Following passage of a law allowing for the more widespread carrying of firearms in the Philippines, two bishops said that priests should not carry guns, even in dangerous areas. “We priests are not afraid of dangers,” said Archbishop Ramon Argüelles of Lipa according to UCA News. “If the general public, especially the poor, are exposed to dangers, we cannot be less.” “Priests are supposed to be men of peace, not of war,” added Bishop José Oliveros of Malolos. “Our Lord said, he who lives by the sword will die by the sword. We should not counter violence with violence.”
