Doubts About Francis: Andrea Riccardi, a former Italian minister and leading member of the Roman Community of Sant’Egidio writes in the Corriere della Sera that the biggest problem of Pope Francis is governing the Church because many prelates have doubts about the Pope’s actions, which according to some seem to be at times ill-considered and downright embarrassing. Francis can however count on the Prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy Cardinal Beniamino Stella, the secretary of the Synod of Bishops Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri and on a group of old Cardinals of liberal tendency.

Too Catholic: According to Riccardi rumours in the Vatican say that Pope Francis is sorry for having appointed Cardinal Pell to the important Secretary of Economy. Allegedly the Pope was aware of Pell’s manager skills but ignored that he holds strong Catholic believes. Francis seems not to be pleased that Pell strongly opposed the ultraliberal German Cardinal Kasper who is very close to Pope Francis. Riccardi also claims that the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller is not in line with Pope Francis.

Quote: “Claire McCaskill and others just hate the man.” The reason: In 2007, Burke took back a speaking invitation to McCaskill for her daughter’s high school graduation at St. Joseph’s Academy in Frontenac. Now, McCaskill’s office felt compelled to somewhat disclaim Reid: “Claire would never use the word ‘hate’ when talking about the Church.” And: “Claire is a big fan of Pope Francis.” McCaskill is pro-gay, pro-abortion and was divorced and remarried.

Nobody needs to judge a pope that falls into heresy because he himself stops being Catholic.
