The Vatican newspaper offers an article that highlights the years this actor of the ‘blue gaze’ lived, between the screen and the family, as one who was always "discreet and original."
Awarded an Oscar for Best Actor in 1986 for "The Color of Money," Mr. Newman stayed by his wife’s side throughout their lives until death, performing all types of roles, as playboy, spy, detective, cowboy, Mafioso and businessman. He was, according to the Vatican newspaper, a person with a "generous heart", a "father who suffered," and an actor whose dignity and style were rare in the environment of Hollywood. He did not attempt to hide his age, even in the world of entertainment where many go to great lengths to prevent appearing old.
