VATICAN CITY — A Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide that Pope Francis put up for auction went for a hefty $326,500 today, demolishing its pre-sale appraisal of $16,000.
The record sale was the hit of the day as hundreds of bidders and spectators attending the Paris auction “erupted into applause when the hammer came down,” according to the Bonhams auction house.
Bidding was fierce, Bonhams said, and lasted a full six minutes. The 2013 autographed bike went to “a private European buyer” who was bidding over the telephone.
A leather Harley jacket, also signed by the pope, sold for $77,644 to someone “overseas,” meaning, not in Europe. A pre-bid estimate had put the 110th anniversary special edition XL jacket at between $1,400 and $2,000.

I note from Gloria.news that the Pope had a chocolate statue of him presented and that he enjoyed a piece of chocolate. Another "one of the guys" dots. Does it mean something? Other than showing to the world the fun and game side of the Pope, I simply note down the dot.

One more "dot" for my collection of Pp Francis dots leading to an outine of his deeds and statements. The Pope has shown himself to be "one of the guys", so to speak, the aging kid next door, and not as possessor of the "Keys to the Kingdom of God", i.e., non-seriousness. He also must quite let it be known world wide. In other words, the Pope is not only one of the guys, rather he is one well advertized as such.
Short connection: The Pope wants Catholics not to approach others with a raised hand (e.g., abortion is murder), rather with love and understanding, causing joyful feelings.

ROME -
An illicit relationship that began in the confessional between an elderly Italian priest and a Gypsy woman from Romania nearly 50 years his junior resulted in more than $460,000 in blackmail payments to keep the woman quiet, Italian newspapers reported Tuesday (Sept. 17).
The reports say that the relationship started four years ago with shared personal revelations in the confessional before evolving into a sexual affair and then an extortion racket that cost the priest at least 350,000 euros ($462,000).
At one point, the priest is reported to have handed over his entire monthly stipend to the woman, as well as an inheritance he received years earlier.
The payments reportedly began with the aim of helping the family of the cash-strapped woman but were soon made in order to prevent her from revealing evidence of the affair.
The woman, now 32 and identified in reports only by her first name, Ramona, has been detained by authorities on charges of extortion. The …More

Houston, TX:
Just weeks after being appointed a new young pastor, parishioners at St. Agatha Catholic Church in Houston, Texas were baffled this morning when they saw a large, gold, "magical box-looking thingy" sitting directly behind the altar as they entered St. Agatha Catholic Church. "Well, we all walked in to church this morning and saw this golden box placed right where our old pastor, Fr. Rick, sat during the Mass," a visibly shaken parishioner Carli Welk told reporters.
And we all just looked at each other and were all like, "What is that?" I told everyone to slowly back away from it."
Welk is now being heralded as a hero after calmly rushing all of the parishioners outside where she proceded to dial 9-1-1.
"I don't consider myself a hero," she later reported to a local Houston news affiliate. "I just did what I had to, you know? We didn't know what was in there or whether the thing itself was dangerous.
Some thought it was just an ornate refrigerator carrying some kind of …More

(Sept. 20. 2013)
More than 10,000 prisoners in Hong Kong will receive mooncakes on China's Moon Festival, which this year falls on September 19, thanks also to the interest of Pope Francis in them.
He not only endorsed this year's Catholic initiative to provide mooncakes to the prisoners, he also gave a symbolic sum of money and, importantly too, encouraged the Catholic faithful in Hong Kong to donate to the initiative.
The pope came to know about the project thanks to Cardinal Joseph Zen, the emeritus bishop of Hong Kong. He told me that he wrote to Pope Francis after World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro and described the project to him because he knows the Argentinian Pope is keen on charitable works and wants to be as close as possible to those on the peripheries of life, such as prisoners.
