Revenge of Ivanhoe (1965) Film also known as: Rivincita di Ivanhoe Interesting combination of an Italian film and the fictional tale of the 12th century English character Ivanhoe. This is not a comedy, it is a serious take. It does quite well too. The dubbing into English wasn't bad either! Wilfred of Ivanhoe [Rik Van Nutter aka Clyde Rogers] finds an old acquaintance bound in lock and chains on the way to the castle of the Hastings. This captured noble is to be tortured by the Hastings in an effort to get his sister, Rowena of Stratford [Glida Lousek] to marry. Ivanhoe's interference forces the Hastings to change their plan. Rowena remains stubbornly devoted to her long missing betrothed... Ivanhoe. The Hastings continued plotting causes Ivanhoe to seek his vengeance and save his fiancee. Directed by Tanio Boccia. Mamy znowu mezalians, bo żeni się córka ustosunkowanego "Prezesa" z synem starych, połatanych inteligentów. Są tam: bankier, polityk, poseł, modelka, dziennikarz, reżyser, jednym słowem świat współczesnego blichtru. Chatę wynajęto dla szpanu, a trochę dla kpiny z tradycji. Przygrywa im do tańca dziwny skrzypek. W trakcie rozwoju akcji zaczynamy się orientować, że to diabeł-spadkobierca chochoła z Wyspiańskiego. The questionnaire for 2015 instructs bishops’ conferences to “avoid, in their responses, a formulation of pastoral care based simply on an application of doctrine,” in favour of what it describes as Pope Francis’s call to “pastoral activity that is characterised by a ‘culture of encounter’ and capable of recognising the Lord’s gratuitous work, even outside customary models.” (see here) The honest person would have to say that if the Synod does not provide pastoral provisions in line with Doctrine it will be less a case of “the white man speaking with forked tongue” as one of hypocrisy and duplicity: “We believe this to be true, but we don’t live according to that belief.” In which case truth may as well not …Więcej

I thought of that the other day when I read a report that Cardinal Marx had said that, for him, "it is incomprehensible how the Synod Fathers are more bound to Tradition than to the Pope". Really? Talk about letting Cats out of Bags! I would like to be quite clear about this. I belong to Christ's Church Catholic as defined by Pastor aeternus of Vatican I (Joseph Ratzinger summarised it so lucidly) in which the Pope is not an absolute monarch but is the Guardian of the Sacred Tradition received from the Apostles. I have no desire to belong to somebody else's "Catholic Church" in which Tradition and Pope are seen as competing alternatives, and in which safe and wise Corporation Men who know what's good for their health prioritise Pope above Tradition.
