On 4 August, Peruvian essayist Santiago Roncagliolo, in a lengthy interview with Daniel Titinger, described Leo XIV's behind-the-scenes methods as Bishop Robert Prevost of Chiclayo, Peru. According to Roncagliolo, Prevost quietly built coalitions, divided opponents, managed information, and preferred discreet political action to public confrontation. Roncagliolo is broadly sympathetic to Leo XIV. "As a character to narrate he was a nightmare. He has no phrases, no scenes, no gestures. You ask the sources: 'What did Prevost say at that dramatic and crucial moment?' 'Nothing, I think'.'" On 6 August, Italian journalist David Murgia published the results of a confidential 2016 consultation within the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith concerning the alleged apparitions at Medjugorje on IlSegnoDiGiona.com. Two Thirds of the Congregation said Medjugorje was NOT Supernatural According to Murgia, 33 participants were asked to provide written opinions, or 'vota', on the Medjugorje phenomenon. Murgia reports the following results (17 September 2016): 21 participants chose 'constat de non supernaturalitate' (not of supernatural origin). 9 participants chose 'constat de supernaturalitate' (supernatural origin). 3 chose 'non constat de supernaturalitate' (the supernatural character has not been established). There’s a list of things, signs and fruits that tells about how false the apparition is, but people prefer to go there and "see", some with faith some others for their kicks. Apparitions ARE for the strength of the faith, but one thing all true Apparitions have in common is that it happens when faith is lacking by the laity and the clergy.
Cardinal Baldassarre Reina, Vicar General for the Diocese of Rome, refused permission for the Catholic funeral of Bruno Battisti D’Amario, a guitarist and senior figure in Italian freemasonry. Hiroshima must remain forever in humanity's memory as a warning, not a precedent. Behind that explosion lay lives, families, dreams, and generations scarred by a pain that should never be repeated. No conflict, ideology, or pursuit of power can justify such a tragedy. May the memory of Hiroshima help us understand that, given our capacity for self-destruction, peace, dialogue, and reason are not merely options—they are a responsibility we owe to humanity and to generations yet to come. The doctrine is being shaped by Pentagon policy chief Elbridge Colby, a long-time advocate of expanding the role of tactical nuclear weapons. His argument is that smaller, lower-yield warheads could be used against battlefield forces and military targets rather than cities.
