Cardinal Gerhard Müller reflects in the newspaper Die Tagespost on December 4 on the 60th anniversary of Vatican II. He claims that debates about the interpretation of the Council have significantly shaped the faith of many Catholics since the 1960s [while in reality, Cathoilcs simply vanished]. The Cardinal notes that both “traditionalist” and “progressivist” approaches can misinterpret the Council: the former want to go behind the Council, while the latter seek to move beyond it.
