Bartholomew Blackmailed, Bribed into Recognising Ukraine’s Filaret Group
Constantinople Patriarch Bartholomew was bribed and blackmailed into recognising the group around the excommunicated Ukrainian Bishop Filaret Denysenko.
This happened with the help of the U.S. State Department, James George Jatras, a former U.S. diplomat and Republican adviser writes on Strategic-cultur.org (November 17).
This July, the State Department warned the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America that it knew Bartholomew had misappropriated about $10 million raised to construct St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in New York.
The State Department promised to ignore the matter if Bartholomew would grant autocephaly to the pro-regime Ukrainian Filaret group. Jatras writes that the U.S. further paid $25 million to Bartholomew to make this happen.
Ukrainian Puppet President Poroshenko was commissioned to deliver the cash during his April 9 Constantinople visit but he consigned only $10 million keeping the rest for himself.
When Bartholomew found out about this he refused to send a delegation for July celebration of the 1030th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia in Kiev. So, Poroshenko was forced to hand over the stolen money.
