Pope Francis, Victory of Power and Will Over Reason?

Joseph Seifert, a philosopher fired by the Archbishop of Granada, Spain, for having criticized Amoris Laetitia in a scientific way, has called the dubia concerning the controversial document “a church-historical necessity.”

Writing in First Things (October 5) he adds, “Is not the continuous and complete silence of the pope to the four cardinals’ questions a kind of ‘silent inquisition’ and a victory of power and will over reason?”

Seifert states that a “topsy-turvy inquisition has been launched against orthodoxy, and truth is persecuted by those called to uphold it” adding, “I have become one of the victims of this reverse inquisition”.
