Bishop Schneider Does Not Exclude Existence of Plot To Destroy Notre Dame

The fire destroying Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris erupted after hundreds of attacks against Catholic churches and objects in France during last year, Kazakhstan Bishop Athanasius Schneider wrote on LifeSiteNews.com (April 17).

Therefore he doesn't exclude the existence of “a plot to destroy the cathedral.” Admitting that there is so far no evidence for this he adds, “Yet one is left with a queasy feeling inside.”

Schneider remarks that French politics and media are both tightly controlled by “anti-Christian" and "Free Masonic" powers.

The fire is for Schneider a divine warning for the bishops and a symbol of what happened in the life of the Church over the last 50 years, namely a "conflagration" of Catholic faith, liturgy and morals.

Due to these betrayals, the Catholic hierarchy has to “repent or will perish” (Lk 13), Schneider adds.

Schneider lists among the betrayals the betrayal of Christ’s explicit command to evangelize all nations without exception, "first among them the Jewish people.”

Some considerations on the conflagration of the Cathedral Notre Dame in Paris. By Athanasius Schneider.

The lightning vehemence with which fire engulfed the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris left one with the impression that an unexpected event had come like a bolt from out of the blue. And yet, viewed as a phenomenon, this tragedy came after a series of hundreds of systematic arson attacks on various sacred objects belonging to the Catholic Church in France over the last year.

It is also significant that the fire in Notre Dame occurred at the beginning of Holy Week, which is the heart of the liturgical year for all Catholics. As the facts in the case are still unknown, we have no evidence on which to base allegations of a plot to destroy the cathedral. Yet one is left with a queasy feeling inside, especially as one considers the chain of systematic anti-Catholic events, marginalization, discrimination and ridicule which the Catholic Faith has undergone at the hands of the French political establishment and French media landscape, both of which are firmly in the hands of the current anti-Christian and Free Masonic powers in France.

Notre Dame is not only the most symbolic cultural and religious sign for the Catholic Church in France. Given that France bears the title “eldest daughter of the Church,” her main cathedral also has deep cultural and religious significance for the entire Catholic world.

The destruction of a visible sign of such vast proportion as the Cathedral Notre Dame in Paris also contains an unmistakable spiritual message. The fire of Notre Dame is without doubt a powerful and stirring sign which God is giving to His Church in our day. It is a cri de coeurfor authentic conversion, first and foremost among the Shepherds of the Church. The fire has largely destroyed Notre Dame, a centuries-old masterpiece of the Catholic Faith. This is a symbolic and highly evocative representation of what has happened in the life of the Church over the last fifty years, as people have witnessed a conflagration of the Church’s most precious spiritual masterpieces, i.e., the integrity and beauty of the Catholic Faith, the Catholic liturgy and Catholic moral life, especially among priests.

The climax of this decades-long spiritual conflagration has manifested itself in the clerical sexual abuse scandals which have profoundly shaken the entire Church. Sadly, we must say that the handling of the clerical sexual abuse scandal has remained more or less on the level of emotional dismay. The true roots of this crisis have not been transparently disclosed, nor, consequently, have effective spiritual medicine and peremptory canonical norms been applied. In a recent and detailed essay, the former Pope Benedict XVI identified one of the most important roots of the abuse crisis, i.e. the loss of the true Faith, the prevalence of moral relativism, and the heterodox and unspiritual formation of seminarians. In reactions to the statement of the former Pope Benedict XVI one could observe an embarrassed silence — and even some indignant outcries — rumbling throughout the ranks of the establishment of liberal theologians and liberal clergy, who are the true spiritual arsonistsin the Church today. They now consider the former Pope Benedict XVI to be a troublemaker whose blunt observations obstruct their incendiary work.

If the Shepherds of the Church will not recognize in the Notre Dame conflagration a Divine warning, they will be behaving like the people in Salvation History who did not recognize the warnings that God often gave them through the uncomfortable and unabashed words of the prophets, through natural catastrophes and various events. The tragedy of Notre Dame spontaneously brought to my mind the following words of Our Lord: “Or those eighteen upon whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, No; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” (Lk 13: 4-5)

The tragic conflagration of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris is also a propitious occasion for all members of the Church to do penance for the acts of betrayal that have been committed against Christ and His Divine teachings in the life of the Church over the past fifty years. Penance and reparation must be made, especially for the betrayal of the command of God the Father that all mankind should believe in His Divine Son, the only Savior of mankind. For God wills positively only the one and unique religion which believes that His Incarnated Son is God and the only Savior of mankind. Penance and reparation must also be made for the betrayal of Christ’s explicit command to evangelize all nations without exception, first among them the Jewish people. For it was to them that Christ first sent His Apostles, to bring them to faith in Him and to the New and Everlasting Covenant for which the Old and temporary Covenant was established.

If the Shepherds of the Church refuse to do penance for the spiritual conflagration of the past fifty years, and for the betrayal of Christ’s universal command to evangelize, should we then not fear that God might send another and more shocking sign, like a devastating conflagration or earthquake that would destroy St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome? God will not indefinitely and shamelessly be mocked by so many Shepherds of the Church of our own day, through their betrayal of the Faith, their sycophantic serving of the world and their neo-pagan worship of temporal and earthly realities. To them as well are addressed these words of Christ, “I tell you, unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” (Lk 13: 5)

May the fire at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, however sad and deplorable it is, rekindle — especially in the Shepherds of the Church — a love and zeal for the true Catholic Faith and for the ardent evangelization of all those who do not yet believe in Christ. And may they be mindful not to marginalize and cowardly exclude the Jewish and Muslim people from this outstanding form of charity. May the fire at Notre Dame also serve as a means to inflame in the Shepherds of the Church a spirit of true repentance, so that God might grant to all the grace of a renewal in the true Faith and in true love for Christ, Our Lord, Our God and Our Savior.

When the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris began to burn, there was a group of faithful, with children and young people among them, who knelt on the ground and sang the Hail Mary. This was one of the most touching and spiritually powerful signs in the midst of a great tragedy. May Our Lady, Help of Christians, intercede for us, that the Shepherds of the Church might begin, with the help of the lay faithful, to rebuild the spiritual ruins in the life of the Church in our day. In the Church, as in Paris, a process of repairing and rebuilding is a sign of hope.

@mattsixteen24 Please don't limit the focus of Bishop Schneider's statement with your own personal anti-Semitism. There are many, many anti-Christian forces, many of which despise Jews just as intensely as you do. Muslims are anti-Christian. Satanists are anti-Christian. Hindus are anti-Christian. Atheists are anti-everything. They see all forms of religion as a fraud.

An atheist will blapheme against Christ, and mock our Holy Mother Church over the ongoing abuse crisis. Then in the next breath, he'll gleefully attack Israel for defending itself against constant Muslim terrorism and then wring his hands in outrage at Muslim misogyny.

Nothing irritates an atheist more than faith, because it is outside his control. If Jews and Muslims refuse to eat pork and we Catholics refuse to eat any flesh on Fridays, he can't argue against it. We do so because we believe.

By contrast, the atheist prefers what he likes to call "reason" because he, in his monstrous Satanically-inspired pride, knows he can always twist that his own malign advantage, either through manufactured "facts" or through convoluted forms of formal argument.

Bishop Schneider sees the issue, rightly I believe, in much broader terms.He's not looking at a single species of anti-Christian animal. He's looking at the whole rotten menagerie of them.

Yes, it's your own personal anti-Semitism because it is not a part of the official teachings of The Church. Is not. Full stop. Let us review the Catechism of the Catholic Church Section 839-840, quoted here verbatim:

The relationship of the Church with the Jewish People.
When she delves into her own mystery, the Church, the People of God in the New Covenant, discovers her link with the Jewish People,326 "the first to hear the Word of God."327 The Jewish faith, unlike other non-Christian religions, is already a response to God's revelation in the Old Covenant. What you claim the Catechism says about Muslims is very different from what it actually does say. The Church, in following Christ's message of sharing The Good News, extends the hand of friendship even to the blaspheming Muslims. However, the scholars of the Church are not as dim-witted as yourself. A close examination of the actual text in the Catechism reveals this.

841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims.
"The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."330

In a sincere hope of reforming your open and manifest heresy, since that is what denying the truth of the Church teachings ultimately is, I'm going to try to clarify the section.

The plan of salvation also includes all humanity. That is God's plan. God, however, has allowed humanity to choose its own course and we are free to accept and reject God's plan. Denying the divinity of His son is not part of the plan and Jesus Himself said so clearly. John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

So for Muslims to be included in God's plan, they must acknowledge the divinity of His Son.

The Church shows optimistism here. They are, among non-Christians, perhaps the closest to finally accepting the Truth, which is what this passage acknowledges. Some Muslims do eventually see the error of their ways just as some heretics, schismatics, and even pagans often do.

The Church continues to wave an olive-branch here and, tacitly, encourages hate-filled bigots like yourself to do the same. But the Catechims presupposes a basic familiarity with the Gospels. As our Lord said in Matthew 7:16 "You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?" Muslims can profess whatever they please, their actions define them.

Christianity and Islam both adore "one, merciful God" and there is no question God shall be "mankind's judge on the last day" That's where the problems start for Islam and all who follow it. If nothing else, they deny the divine nature of Jesus and He was quite explicit on that point.

You're also ignoring, perhaps out of your increasingly obvious ignorance, an equally important teaching in the Catechism:

846 "Outside the Church there is no salvation"

Muslims are, by definition, outside the Holy Mother Church.

The Church clarifies this point in the next section:

847 This affirmation is not aimed at those who, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ and his Church

...meaning there -may- be some hope of salvation for, say, some savage living in the Amazon jungle who may have never seen anyone outside his fellow pagan tribesmen.

This does not apply to Muslims. They indisputably DO know Christ and they despise Him. They know his Church and seek to destroy it. All of which means the previous Section 846 applies fully to them and on The Last Day, they are well and truly up the creek without a paddle.

Sadly, barring a last-minute sincere change of heart, so are you. You've damned yourself with your hatred of the very sort of wrong-doers Christ repeatedly insisted we should forgive. When the godless pagan Romans were torturing Him and mocking Him in His agony, what did our Lord Jesus do? @mattsixteen24 I've already clarified why there is no internal contradiction between the Catechism's statements. Long paragraphs, none of which you countered. I'm certain you read them, didn't like them, and now,like any other dog who's been kicked, all you do is keep barking. But you're obviously not arguing, just tossing out these vapid irrelevancies.

Let's try it again. The Catechism states Muslims "profess to hold the faith of Abraham". It did not say that they DO hold the faith of Abraham. The Catechism states in essence, "this is what THEY say they believe". Likewise their religion and ours is monotheistic, i.e. "one merciful God." We both can worship "one merciful God", but the Catechism doesn't say they're going to Heaven.

I've already spelled out, at length, how the Catechism can acknowledge these points in Islamic belief and where, in fact, it also clearly shows their denial of Jesus and His one true Church clearly deprive non-believers from salvation and eternal life.

I called you a bigot because that's exactly what you are. Your interpretation of the Catechism is false. Your hatred of Jews is unsupported as is your claim "God hates jews" After all, he chose to bestow His only Son on humanity as a Jew. I noticed you have NOTHING to say about that. No surprises there.

In fact, if you think about it a bit further, God in all His aspects contradicts you. God The Father "hates" Jews so much He gave His Son to the world as a Jew, through womb of a Jewess -The Blessed Mother. God the Son "hates" Jews so much He chose Jews for his Apostles. Peter, the first Pope, the rock upon which Our Lord Jesus built His Church, was... a Jew. God the Holy Spirit "hates" Jews so much it descended upon the Apostles during Pentecost. All three persons of God bestowed the Jews with graces that have never been repeated..

What you and many other protestants fail to understand is that the people who call themselves jews today do not practice the same religion as Mary and Joseph. Their false religion is based off the Talmud which came much later after Christianity. The Talmud is their most important "holy" book. It's more important than the torah for them. In it they say horrible things about Christ and BVM. They say horrible things about Catholics. They believe all non-jews are not even human. This is why they call us goyim. They are permitted to lie to and even kill non-jews. There videos online of orthodox jews they say this.

It won't burn down. The "cathedral" will eventually close because of poor attendance and the archdiocese of Los Angeles will sell it to a shell-corporation owned by Planned Parenthood. Some blogger will notice and the archdiocese will pretend they didn't notice.

Pope Francis will remind everyone that being angry with God is a form of prayer, aborting your unborn child is an act of mercy, and then he'll kiss the feat of the Margaret Sanger statue newly installed outside the building.

Some angry Catholic whose own 150 year-old church was closed to force attendance at that abomination will, in a fit of anger, fling his Starbucks coffee against the side of the new office building and "clinic".

The police will spend millions of dollars over thee weeks using the most advanced NASA imaging technology to learn who threw the coffee. Then the LAPD SWAT team will kick in his front door while his family is having dinner. He will get tasered for "resisting arrest" (he stood up in surprise), handcuffed, kicked repeatedly in the face, then dragged down to the police station..

He will be denied bail. Eventually, after a long show-trial, he will be sentenced to five years in prison and the sentenced doubled because it was a "hate crime". An extra two years will be added for littering because of the spilled coffee. The judge will spend almost five hours lecturing the man how hate has no place in our society and how women have the right to choose.

The press will cheer and say justice was done. Pope Francis will hold a press conference praising Greta Thunberg because she skipped school to visit America and demand extra jail-time for the coffee-throwing man. "She has Christ's love of justice in her heart.." He may, or may not, kiss her feet, the feet of the judge, and the feet of the LAPD SWAT team.
