The Marian Shrine of Medjugorje Not Recognized

The Vatican investigation of the not recognized Marian Shrine of Medjugorje in Bosnia-Herzegovina is closed. This was confirmed this Saturday Vatican by spokesman Federico Lombardi. On Friday, the international commission of inquiry chaired by former Roman Cardinal Vicar Camillo Ruini met in its last session. The result will now be sent for further processing by the CDF.

Official pilgrimages to Medjugorje will continue to be prohibited.

A verdict on the Medjugorje apparitions is not far off. The Mejugorje inquiry commission which was set up in March 2010 and is chaired by Cardinal Camillo Ruini has concluded its work. Fr. Federico Lombardi confirmed that the commission held its last meeting on Friday and the results of the inquiry will now be examined by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith headed by the Prefect Gerhard Müller.

All the material gathered, the interviews with the seers and many other witnesses, the stories told by the various people involved, expert reports and theological reflections on the messages, has been summarised in one final report and passed on to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith for a careful evaluation. The report will be studied alongside other documentation which the Congregation has gathered over the course of the years.

Vatican Insider has learnt that the Commission has focused mainly on the first phase of apparitions. There is apparently no proof of any tricks, hoaxes or abuse of popular credulity. However, it is proving difficult for the Church to form a definitive verdict on the supernatural nature of a phenomenon that is ongoing.

Of the six seers who reported apparitions in June 1981, when they were still children or in their teens, three claim that they still see daily apparitions of the “Queen of Peace” at the same time every afternoon, wherever they happen to be at the time. These seers are: Vicka (who lives in Medjugorje), Marija (who lives in Monza) and Ivan (who lives in the US but returns to his homeland often). A fourth seer, Mirjana, sees an apparition on the second day of each month.

The large volume of messages going round poses a problem for the Commission. As does the forecasting of supernatural signs and secrets which the seers have refused to share, even with Church authorities.

Some of the Commission’s members have highlighted the need for a change of pace in the provision of pastoral care to millions of faithful who come to Medjugorje from all over the world. The Commission and Cardinal Ruini himself thanks to visits by people close to him have noticed that people really are converting to the faith or returning to the sacraments – what the Church refers to as spiritual fruits – in a significant way.

But this alone does not a decision on the part of the Church with regard to the supernatural nature of the apparitions. In fact, over the past few months, Prefect Müller has cautioned bishops in the US to keep a close eye on meetings held by Medjugorje seers. These are often public meetings with lots of apparitions on the agenda. During last 14 November’s mass in St. Martha’s House, the Pope very eloquently said that Mary is a Mother "not a postmaster of the post office sending out messages every day." These words were addressed to those who continuously communicate messages and prophesies about the future.

The Bishop of Mostar, Ratko Peric, who also serves Medjugorje, is notoriously sceptical about the phenomenon, as was his predecessor. Then there is the age-long problem of the relations between the diocesan clergy and the Franciscan friars of Herzegovina at the time of the apparitions. A couple of solutions proposed in the recent past, have been to restore the old diocese of Trebinje so as to remove Medjugorje from the territory of the Mostar diocese or to create a Marian shrine that would be managed by a rector from another diocese.

The church has ruled and Bishop Perić’s statement speaks for itself. He is/was the competent authority placed in Mostar by the Vatican itself. You, yours the Franciscans and who knows how many decadent priests reject his authority because you and the rest of the Medjewgoogoo malcontents don't like what he has said.

What you fail to realize is that every one involved in this scam wants a piece of the action especially the "visionaries.' This is all about $$$$, you rube with the facade of it being an apparition. It's clueless gullible simpletons that have made it a success.

Like the rest of the Medjewgoogoo cult, you're incorrigible. I am done with you.

Our Lady called for peace from day one as she did in the approved apparitions at Kibheo (ourladyappears.blogspot.ie/2013/05/kibheo.html) and look what happened when the people did not pay attention to her message.

The church has not yet ruled on Medjugorje yet you call me disobedient to the church yet you have already made up your mind before the church has even ruled.

You have mentioned the church attendance dwindling and vocations worldwide being down so this brings me back to the question. Why would God not send Our blessed Mother in these times why are you so unwilling to accept the supernatural.

But to continue with the "fruits" narrative, let's look a little closer at the fruits that the proponents of the fraud never mention.
------------------------------------------

In Medjugorje, numerous conversions have been reported, Catholics returning to the sacraments after many years, etc. But the main fruit, and the fruit closest to the heart of the devil, has been disobedience. Original sin came into the world not through lust or greed or murder, but through disobedience; and the redemption took place through the obedience of Jesus (Romans 5:19) and the fiat of his mother. In Medjugorje, we are confronted with the counterintuitive phenomenon of the Madonna encouraging disobedience to the successors of the Apostles (the Gospa urged disobedience thirteen times to Bishop Zanic, who had originally been inclined favorably to the apparitions) and disobedience of some Franciscans to Vatican directives.

Other “fruits” include the massacres and mutilations that took place from 1991 to 1992 when, because of the war, three groups involved in the pilgrimage trade, losing business, turned on each other, resulting in an estimated 80-140 deaths and 600 expulsions; and the revocation of faculties or laicization of Frs. Zovko and Vlasic, guides of the visionaries accused of sexual infractions. Nine Franciscans were also expelled from the order and a divinis. According to historian Michael Sells, religious nationalists in Medjugorje “cleansed” non-Catholics, destroying an Orthodox monastery and murdering priests and monks. Bishop Perić was kidnapped on April 2, 1994, in retaliation for his criticisms of unauthorized activities in Medjugorje, and released only when the Mayor of Mostar intervened with UN troops.

And so what are we to conclude? Bishop Perić’s statement in 1997 still seems to be the most relevant:

On the basis of the serious study of the case by 30 [academics], on my episcopal experience of five years in the Diocese, on the scandalous disobedience that surrounds the phenomenon, on the lies that are at times put into the mouth of the “Madonna,” on the unusual repetition of “messages” for over 16 years, on the strange way that the “spiritual directors”of the so-called “visionaries” accompany them throughout the world making propaganda of them, on the practice that the “Madonna” appears at the “fiat” (let her come!) of the “visionaries,” my conviction and position is not only non constat de supernaturalitate (“no evidence of the supernatural”) but also the other formula constat de non supernaturalitate (“evidence of the non-supernatural character”) of the apparitions or revelations of Medjugorje.

The visionary's have spent the last 30 years meeting pilgrims and answering the same questions over and over again and spending time with pilgrims praying with them and encouraging them to turn to god.

The fruits being produced are good.

Surely If there was ever a time for God to send his blessed mother to us would it not be the times we are living in now?

Look around you. Look at the complete disregard for Gods Laws. The messages in Medjugore always point to confessing our sins, attending holy mass regularly, reading the bible and to continually pray with our hearts. Asking us to especially pray for our priests.

God bless you all 👌

Exactly Fidelium! That alone should be enough WARNING about these 'visions'. When has Our Lady ever made such a claim as this 'visionary' promotes. Preposterous!

We have a choice when seeing the differences between the doctrines of the Church and the statements made by the children at Medjugorje. We can either conclude that the Church and Holy Scripture are wrong in their infallible teachings or that the apparitions at Medjugorje are false, for there can be no compromise: neither can God inspire or direct falsities nor can something be both true and not true at the same time.

The International Commission of inquiry about the apparitions at Medjugorje presided over by Cardinal Camillo Ruini has concluded its work. The outcome of the study will now be submitted to the Congregation for the doctrine of the faith presided over by Cardinal Gehrart neo-Müller. This was confirmed by the Director of the Vatican Press Office, father Federico Lombardi. The Vatican spokesman explained that 'yesterday, Friday, January 17, held the last meeting of the International Commission of inquiry on Medjugorje, formed at the Congregation for the doctrine of the faith, under the Presidency of Cardinal Ruini». The Commission 'has finished its work,' added Lombardi and as expected, the outcome of the study will now be submitted to the competent instances of the same Congregation». It is therefore not at all said that as soon as they are made known to the conclusions of the Commission, which acted with advisory powers on behalf of the former Holy Office on initial input of Benedict XVI. The apparitions of Medjugorje, a village of Herzegovina, began in 1981 and continue to this day. Of the six visionaries, three continue ensuring that he still has the daily appearance at the same time of the afternoon and wherever they are at that moment: Vicka (who lives in Medjugorje), Marija (who lives in Monza) and Ivan (who lives in the United States but returned often to Medjugorje). Mirjana has an appearance every day 2 of the month, while the last two visionaries have an appearance every year. A problem that you are facing the Commission is represented by the huge amount of messages attributed to the Virgin Mary, which continue to be disclosed. A road that looked like it had been initially taken by the Commission was to focus on the early events and first messages. The end of the Commission's work does not mean that the outcome will be immediately disclosed. The Congregation for the doctrine of the faith, will examine the file and then will present its conclusions to the Pope. As you know the Bishop of Mostar, monsignor Peric, as well as his predecessor Zanic, in Office at the time of the beginning of the apparitions, have always been strongly opposed to recognizing the supernaturality of the apparitions. While other senior prelates, including Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn, Archbishop of Vienna, are definitely favorable. The parish of Medjugorje has become one of the most visited Marian in the world. Many people are approaching or are close to the faith after being there on a pilgrimage.

The head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Archbishop Gerhard Müller sent a letter dated October 21, 2013, that deals with the Medjugorje phenomenon, and he asked that the letter be sent to all U.S. bishops.

[T]he Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith is in the process of investigating certain doctrinal and disciplinary aspects of the phenomenon of Medjugorje.
For this reason the Congregation has affirmed that, with regard to the credibility of the “apparitions" in question, all should accept the declaration, dated 10 April 1991, from the Bishops of the former Republic of Yugoslavia, which asserts:

"On the basis of the research that has been done, it is not possible to state that there were apparitions or supernatural revelations."

It follows, therefore, that clerics and the faithful are not permitted to participate in meetings, conferences or public celebrations during which the credibility of such "apparitions" would be taken for granted.

In order, therefore, to avoid scandal and confusion, Archbishop Muller asks that the Bishops be informed of this matter as soon as possible.
