During his press conference on the flight from Peru to Rome, Pope Francis said that someone told him that he was "crazy" to perform an airplane marriage.
Francis insisted that he had asked the spouses the necessary questions and that he received assurance that they had attended their pre-marriage courses, “I judged that they were prepared.” Both also said that they had previously gone to confession.
He added, "The Pope has interrogated them well, this was a regular situation."

The fact he said “they might not get around to it again” only proves that they weren’t really serious about the actual Sacrament. Having him do it seems more about celebrity story to tell people than a desire for the Sacrament.

Contempt is a very good word used to describe how Francis sees the historical Church and its teachings.

@Dr Stuart Reiss Re: The Beachball on the Altar. If any lay person were to commit such sacrilege we would have been excommunicated. Does he delude himself that just because he is a Prelate that the same doesn't apply in his case?

How dare he parade about with a beachball within the Temple of Christ! With all the world watching via the cameras. His contempt and disdain for Christ renders him a public disgrace = Does he really believe such base blasphemy will go unpunished by Jesus?.

There is a Saint in France called S Aubert. He was Bishop of Avranches. He incurred the wrath of St Michael the Archangel as he refused to obey the Will of the Lord. St Michael appeared to him 3 times requesting that he establish a sanctuary in his name at the Shrine that is now known as Mont St Michel in N. France.

As tradition has it, on the third attempt to gain the obedience of the Bishop, the 7 foot Warrior Archangel, who had previously rendered the Bishop bed-ridden & close to death, - returned and went as far as poking his finger into Aubert's skull to get him to perform his wishes. Aubert sent messengers to the Monte Gargano in Italy, to bring back the relics of the archangel to the Mont-Tombe. Once completed, the sanctuary was finally dedicated to Saint Michael on 16 October 709. The hole in the Bishops Skull is clearly to be seen as it is displayed in the reliquary.
