Bishop Fellay: “We May Be a Little Bit Less Controversial”

Bishop Bernard Fellay, the superior general of the Society of St Pius X (SSPX), reveals in a video on "sspx.org" that he tried for almost ten years to get SSPX marriages recognised by the Vatican.

He detects “a certain contradiction” in the Vatican document that recognises the SSPX marriages, because the document states that the SSPX is not completely in canonical order, but should be treated as if it were. Fellay believes that the document is a positive step because of Pope Francis' friendly attitude toward his Society. He is convinced that it is “not a trap, not a bad, hidden trick, or catch”.

Bishop Fellay insists that the Society is not going to change but adds a but, “We may be a little less controversial in attacking the persons”, because sometimes one is gaining more “by giving a simple argument than by barking”.
