There’s a bit of a gap between the man himself saying he has ‘tested positive, is receiving care, and beginning recovery’ and some unnamed priest issuing an ‘official communication’ squelching ‘rumors of covid’.
The two statements aren’t necessarily incompatible – for example, the positive result may have come from a routine Covid screening in the course of treating an unrelated sinus infection – but it is not a very responsible action for an anonymous party to contradict and dismiss without context.
prayers for the Cardinal
Fr. Z, sometime a ways back you asked your readers to pray for Cardinal Burke and I’ve been adding him to the morning offering ever since. Maybe it’s a happy coincidence that today is the feast of St. Philomena, and it would be good to add a request to that Wonder Worker on his behalf. And a rosary until the Cardinal recovers. We can’t do without Cardinal Burke.
I have several relatives who got the delta form of covid and the are all fine after a few days of feeling crummy. My daughter has several co-workers who have it and they are recovering nicely. I will certainly pray for Cardinal Burke and hope he makes a full recovery.
Thank you for the update. We do pray for Cardinal Burke in our daily, morning prayers but I do appreciate knowing that we should pray more!

One of my Brother Knights mentioned this last night, so we added Raymond Cardinal Burke to our prayer list last night.
We need more shepherds like Cardinal Burke. I was disappointed how much negativity the St. Louis Post-Dispatch printed about this bishop who stands with courage. For what it’s worth, in 2018 I attended a conference in Dallas where he spoke. The good Cardinal mentioned that he sometimes receives correspondence from Protestant ministers with notes pertaining to, “what is happening to the Catholic Church?”

Here’s praying he weathers this storm.
May the good Lord preserve and grant a long life to Cardinal Burke, one of His most faithful and loyal prelates. May he live to espouse his wisdom and orthodoxy long after those who seek to destroy the Church are sorry footnotes in history.
two observations .
1. I have seen one vaccine refuser, a patient much younger than his Eminence, who started off as a “sinus infection” now in with Covid 19 pneumonia. All the patients getting Covid Pneumonia and hospitalized are those unvaccinated. Get vaccinated. It at least ameliorates the infection. Pray for his Eminence but get vaccinated to protect yourselves and people like his Eminence.
2. Even in the dark dreadful months of March through June ,I saw people ,20 years my junior, die from Covid. Everyone is at risk. You cannot know for certain if you will not die even with apparent good health. Please get vaccinated.

I have no doubt that if I were to be run over by the Number 9 bus from Victoria station, the diagnosis would be “Covid 19”, in spite of the obvious bloodstains on the front of the bus.
There have been too many misdiagnoses, too many lies.
I don’t understand people pushing the injections at this point. Something is very, very wrong with very many people. In all charity I wish people would go to Confession, because perhaps if more people were in a state of grace, they would wake up from the effects of fear and psychological manipulation that has gripped the world. There are millions of people who have had Covid. They are not a threat to others, in fact, it is the opposite. People who had Covid have robust and full immunity, and they will not get Covid again. Even if their antibodies did fade, their T-cells and B-cells will recognize and attack any variants, which almost never change more than 20% of the original strain. People who were exposed to Sars-Cov-1 were immune to Sars-Cov-2, in fact. Our bodies are wonderfully and beautifully made by our God.
There is no reason for people who are immune to take any injection. Why would they mess with their intact immunity to Covid-19? Science has always acknowledged natural immunity. The scientists in charge now pretend it doesn’t exist, but we the dumb rabble should remember, it does. And at least not walk around parroting “Get the vaccine”, or, what some governor just said so eloquently “Get the damn vaccine.” Maybe he was more accurate than most. Human beings have, if they have nothing else, at least the sovereign rights over their own bodies. Stop helping totalitarians. Recognize natural immunity, but even if not naturally immune, people have a right to say no. We would have a horrific world, if that stopped being the case.
Some comments are just unbelievable. I really don’t know, is that a scam comment by JGavin? It’s like the news: can’t believe everything you read.
If the vaccine is so wonderful then there should be no pressure to get everyone vaccinated. Think it through. Get your vaccine and live comfortably knowing that you are immune, right? Oh, that’s not how it works anymore? Everyone needs to take it now for everyone to be protected? Am I really to believe that the government suddenly wants what is really best for everyone?
