The tune of this beloved chant dates to the 5th-7th century AD, as part of the Gallican Rite of the Roman Catholic liturgy.
lyrics
Pange, lingua, gloriosi
Corporis mysterium,
Sanguinisque pretiosi,
quem in mundi pretium
fructus ventris generosi
Rex effudit Gentium.
Nobis datus, nobis natus
ex intacta Virgine,
et in mundo conversatus,
sparso verbi semine,
sui moras incolatus
miro clausit ordine.
In supremae nocte coenae
recumbens cum fratribus
observata lege plene
cibis in legalibus,
cibum turbae duodenae
se dat suis manibus.
Verbum caro, panem verum
verbo carnem efficit:
fitque sanguis Christi merum,
et si sensus deficit,
ad firmandum cor sincerum
sola fides sufficit.
Tantum ergo Sacramentum
veneremur cernui:
et antiquum documentum
novo cedat ritui:
praestet fides supplementum
sensuum defectui.
Genitori, Genitoque
laus et jubilatio,
salus, honor, virtus quoque
sit et benedictio:
Procedenti ab utroque
compar sit laudatio.
Amen. Alleluja.

Tell, tongue, the mystery
of the glorious Body
and of the precious Blood,
which the fruit of a noble Womb,
the King of the Nations
poured forth as a ransom for the world,
Given to us, born for us,
from the untouched Virgin,
He lived on Earth,
sowing the seed of the Word.
In wondrous way
He ended His earthly soujourn.
On the night of the Last Supper,
reclining with His brethren,
once the Law had been fully observed
with the prescribed foods,
as food to the group of Twelve
He gives Himself with His hands.
The Word made Flesh
Makes true bread into flesh by a word
and wine becomes the blood of Christ.
And if sense is deficient
to strengthen a sincere heart
Faith alone suffices.
Therefore, let us venerate the great Sacrament,
bowing low:
and let the ancient law
give way to a new rite.
Let faith furnish assistance (stand as a substitute)
for the deficiency of the senses.
To Begetter and Begotten
be praise and jubilation,
also salvation, honor, strength
and blessing.
To the One proceeding from both [God and spirit]
be equal praise.
Amen, Alleluia.

Mikolaj is a real multi-talent in bass as well as guitar as well as vocals and "Darkside" Maciej's drumming is a well-calibrated 100th-of-seconds-clockwork. Not for nothing is Mgla considered as a standard for a lot of other blacker-than-black metal bands. I hope to see this band live once..... grote_smurf

It's hard to pick a favourite track. This is the only album i have so far deemed as "perfect", where every track, even the intro, is just a masterpiece in its own right. From the hard hitting Perturbator's Theme to the emotional title track, its 68 minutes of perfection. 10/10. connivingkhajiit
