Dr. Antony Fauci: The “Silver Fox” of the NIH or an Anti-Trump Alarmist?

Dr. Antony Fauci: The “Silver Fox” of the NIH or an Anti-Trump Alarmist?

Fauci pushes the preferred narrative while ignoring the data and impact of pandemic policy on regular Americans. Little wonder Trump is resuming the Coronavirus Task Force briefings.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, a leading member of the Coronavirus Task Force as the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has been a favorite of the press since the beginning of the pandemic.

There is not one of the media narratives that he fails to push.

He is so popular among the reporters covering the pandemic that he was featured on the cover of the digital version of InStyle Magazine.

Let’s just get some truths out of the way, shall we? Dr. Anthony Fauci is the longtime Head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He’s spent most of 2020 on our television screens, calmly keeping us informed about the ongoing pandemic while driving home the seriousness of social distancing. He’s 79 years old. And he’s now a fashion magazine cover star.

The man was portrayed on SNL by none other than Brad Pitt, so it’s also true Dr. Fauci is attractive. Now, whether liberal women everywhere are fanning themselves over his expertise and “silver fox” vibe or because he’s a beacon of honesty and leadership during a time when we’ve had absolutely none of that on a national level… well, who can say for sure? Either way, these photos of Dr. Fauci in InStyle are perfection and he totally deserves the fawning his photos and accompanying interview will inspire.

I will simply point out he is not wearing a mask in the photo.

The current narrative Fauci is touting is that despite the substantially higher rates of infections and deaths (and after fighting the guidance to shut-down in early February entirely), New York handle the pandemic “the right way.”

Many parts of the United States didn’t do enough to combat the coronavirus — but New York state did, Dr. Anthony Fauci said Friday.

“We’ve got to do the things that are very clear that we need to do to turn this around,” Fauci told PBS NewsHour. “Remember, we can do it. We know that when you do it properly, you bring down those cases. We’ve done it. We’ve done it in New York.”

“New York got hit worse than any place in the world. And they did it correctly by doing the things that you’re talking about,” added Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases — and a member of the White House coronavirus task force.

As a reminder of New York’s realities, there is a nice graph charting death rates in various parts of the globe.

It’s the willingness to make extraordinary claims such as this, in defense of the progressive, beltway, media-approved narrative that inspires editors of New York’s leading publications to place Fauci on their covers. Regular and reasonable people have a far more rational take on New York’s performance.

Trump seems to be willing to have Fauci do Fauci, but with a much better understanding that he can’t let the nation become Fauci’s test laboratory again.

President Trump during an interview with Fox News Channel’s Chris Wallace said he has “a very good relationship with Dr. Fauci,” and also described the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases as “a little bit of an alarmist.”

The president’s description of Fauci came after Wallace brought up a cartoon, shared on social media by Trump aide Dan Scavino, that Wallace said “shows him as a leaker and an alarmist.”

The president indicated that Fauci, a member of the White House coronavirus task force, “made some mistakes.”

“Dr. Fauci at the beginning said ‘This will pass, don’t worry about it this will pass.’ He was wrong. Dr. Fauci said, ‘Don’t ban China, don’t ban China.’ I did, he then admitted that I was right,” Trump said. The president also indicated that Fauci had been wrong on the issue of wearing masks.

Fauci is not the only political animal. Look at the Centers for Disease Control.

Nearly all of the more than 8,000 political donations made by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) employees since 2015 went to left-leaning recipients, according to the Daily Caller.

The outlet scoured Federal Election Commission data and discovered that CDC workers supplied more than $285,000 to what the Daily Caller described as “Democratic candidates and causes.”

Five donations amounting to more than $1,000 were given to Republican causes.

Recognizing how political the CDC has become, and how the data is being distorted and the needs of regular Americans are ignored, little wonder that Trump said that he would resume holding coronavirus press briefings at the White House. It will be interesting to see how much, or how little, Fauci is involved in these events going forward.

“like saying the best WW1 generals who lost all their men in the first wave were the best because they didnt lose any soldiers in the following months ”
They didnot lose any soldiers in the following months because they were all dead in the first wave – Like duh

Same with claiming success when the fire is out after the house has been burned to the ground.

Time to let everyone know he has a basement desk job.

He has been in the CDC for decades. And he and his friends did no preparation at all for anything like this.

Trump gets blamed for shortages of masks etc., but Trump didn’t work at the CDC, collect a large salary and do nothing–except play politics with people’s lives.

We are used to seeing no accountability for screw ups or criminality by government agencies and employees. But the CDC and Fauci are in the running for the least accountable people in the country.

Somewhat OT: the British media has actually investigated the Labour Party’s rampant antisemitism.

https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2020/07/labour-is-sorry.php

How ironic that the media in Great Britain – which has no First Amendment to protect them – actually investigated a leftist organization like Labour. In the supposedly free United States not only would there be no investigation into the communistic Democrat Party’s numerous episodes of antisemitism, but any reporter who even dared to bring up the subject would be Twitter-shamed and fired (not to mention blacklisted and receive numerous death threats).

Fauci is the prototypical arrogant swamp-dweller. All he does is pontificate about how smart he is—how much he knows—yet he has not accepted one iota of responsibility for the mess we are in. And, we are NO BETTER OFF than we were four months ago. What the hell have these people been doing?

Here’s a quote from a presentation that the mayor of Charleston (SC) gave back in April:

“Without a vaccine, we’re using 14th-century methods, which is what quarantine is, or social distancing. That’s really all we have at this point.” –Dr. Peter Hotez, Dean, National School of Tropical Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine,/b>

Are you kidding me? The CDC’s annual budget is more than 8 billion USD, yet we’re using “14th-century methods” to protect us from the plague? We can walk on the moon, we can travel around the earth submerged, and we’ve got more computing power in a phone than mankind has had in its history, and this is what you offer up?

Fauci and all the rest have made a nice, comfortable living for years sucking at the government teat. Now—when the country truly needs their “expertise” to solve a major health/socio-economic problem—they got nuthin’.

C’mon man.

In a just world, Fauci and all these people would be held accountable for their incompetence and lack of preparation and made to pay a price. Millions of people have lost their livelihoods, while these b_stards continue to get their pay check every week.

There was much talk about a “pandemic simulation” back in October of 2019. While the simulation was just fine as far as it went, it failed to consider an outbreak with a long incubation period. This then didn’t consider needing testing on a larger scale sooner and much larger than previous outbreaks. This then never had them consider that the regulatory apparatus was unfavorable for dealing with expanding the number of testing facilities.
Even now, as testing is vastly larger than in March, it is limited by the availability of testing reagents due to an entire economy completely invested in “just in time” inventory control.

yet we’re using “14th-century methods” to protect us from the plague?
Honestly, one of the worst conceits of our modern era is that everything old must suck. A lot of those “14th-century methods” are actually the best thing going.

Of course, when they’re executed bass-ackwards, no, they really don’t help.

Imagine if we had quarantined people with HIV in the beginning and started testing folks at high risk for it?

Sorry — forgot to turn bold off. Hate those html settings.

This sounds like the sort of thing which finally convinced Truman to fire MacArthur in 1951.

Fauci is either a total anti-Trump shill or a total incompetent boob. Take your choice.

Now, the biggest problem with address COVID is the huge amount of false or misleading data on it. We keep uncovering mounds of evidence that the actual number of cases is being heavily over-reported. The same is true of the number of deaths directly attributable to the virus. Also, states, which have been mandating social distancing and even mask wearing, are now showing a steep increase in COVID “cases”. Exactly what mechanism is causing this? Perhaps it is a combination of testing, which would return a higher number of people exposed to the virus as well as out right fraudulent reporting by the media. It is interesting that the states most “effected” by this are Republican leaning swing states. Hummm. The suggested response is to close the economy once again. Thereby completing its destruction prior to the 2020 elections?

COVID = Political Scam.

Competence is relative. I’m certain he’s a wonderful doctor, with deep knowledge of infections diseases and allergens, or he would not have held that post since the Reagan years. But his competence in public affairs is quite in-competent. He can’t maintain a position for more than a week, he can be manipulated into saying what the reporter wants during an interview so it can be sound-bite clipped, he doesn’t realize how bad he looks when he talks in absolutes, then reverses himself a few weeks later, twice. He’s a shining example of the Dunning-Kruger effect because he thinks being a genius in one field makes him a genius in all, and what he’s really doing is getting suckered into repeating whatever the media line of the day is today.

Olinser in reply to georgfelis. | July 22, 2020 at 2:16 pm

I have seen absolutely ZERO evidence that he’s a ‘genius’ at ANYTHING other than kissing progressive ass.

This is the same toad that claimed AIDS could be spread through casual contact.

He has a history of making wild claims with zero evidence, and refusing to admit he is wrong until evidence is OVERWHELMINGLY against him

Edward in reply to georgfelis. | July 22, 2020 at 8:02 pm

IIRC he was THE expert on HIV/AIDS. He made his reputation on AIDS assuring the country that the AIDS “epidemic” would impact both homosexuals and heterosexuals (we didn’t have 57 varieties back then) relatively equally in the country.

    Olinser in reply to Mac45. | July 22, 2020 at 2:13 pm

    Embrace the power of ‘and’.

He’s trying to shift blame to Trump to cover up his own incompetence.

This arrogant piece of shit has been wrong about LITERALLY EVERYTHING about this virus.

    randian in reply to Mac45. | July 22, 2020 at 10:06 pm

What mechanism? Fraud, in Florida at least. Not only have the official numbers not been adjusted in light of the fraud, but the local governments are using those official numbers to justify “emergency” orders, with the local media beating the drums for them.

It is easier for the President to quietly sideline the old fart (he is a little older than I) than give the MSM another issue to go on a tear over for a week or two.

Edward in reply to Edward. | July 22, 2020 at 8:07 pm

Oh, and the CDC has been reliably Leftist for decades. When they “studied gun violence” during the Clinton administration the resulting calls for gun control as an answer to the epidemic of violence those guns were committing resulted in Congress banning CDC spending funds on the issue.

Here in Florida Fauci is almost irrelevant. What matters here are the fraudulent virus case numbers coming from the local labs and the “omg so big” death numbers (also fraudulent I assume) drumbeat from the local media that Palm Beach and Broward counties are using to justify extending lockdowns and mandatory mask wearing, implementing curfews, and shutting down late night dining.

Fauci is not merely a clown. He’s a malignant clown:

The Mendacious Midget is a mad camera clown. Everyday he says something dumber than he did the day before.

buckeyeminuteman | July 23, 2020 at 7:43 am

Back in late March and into April, Trump and his team were in front of the cameras every single day. They had more viewers than Monday Night Football. He looked very presidential. With all the chaos going on now, he needs to get back in front of the cameras daily and do all that again. And he needs to stay on script. He says some rather divisive things when he starts going off the cuff.
