Profile

Born to the nobility of the Ancona, Italy region, his family relocated to the Languedoc, France region in Guglielmo’s youth. When the last member of his family died, Guglielmo felt free to pursue a call to religious life, and joined the Mercedarians in Toulouse, France. He served in houses in the Spanish cities of Barcelona and Valencia. He was sent to Algiers, Algeria to free Christians who had been enslaved by Muslim Saracens. There he was seized by a violently antiChristian mob who had him stoned by a group of children, and then murdered. Martyr.
