Greatest Year For Metal.

This year so far has been insane for metal, opning up with Iron Maiden and AC/DC.

But now the real mayhem will start and it will all kick off this saturday at the Culture Room here in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Where it will hold melodic metal gods Amon Amarth and rumors have been told that there have been insane viking fights during their songs from their new album Twighlight Of The Thunder God. Moving on from there we have the legendary thrash band Exodus touring with Kreator and yes that is spelled with a "k", Exodus will be playing their famous album "Shovel Headed Kill Machine". Then it will follow up with world famous band Judas Priest doing their whole "British Metal" cd. Right after we have the Mayhem Festival which will include bands such as Whitechapel, Cannibal Corpse, Slayer, Bullet For My Valentine, Killswitch Engage and Marilyn Manson. Doesn't that soound like perfection?

And to end it all we have Metallica touring for their new album and for those going I hear that they have been putting a hell of a show and also Lamb Of God is rumored to open for them at the show.

What do you think of this?

Band Of The Week: Slayer!!!!!

Slayer is an American thrash metal band from Huntington Park, California. Slayer was formed in 1981, when guitarist Kerry King met Jeff Hanneman while auditioning for a band. The two recruited bassist and vocalist Tom Araya, who had played with King before in the band Quits. Drummer Dave Lombardo was recruited when he met King delivering a pizza. They started by playing Iron Maiden covers in clubs. At the beginning during their early shows relied on a Satanic image, which featured pentagrams, make-up, spikes, and inverted crosses.

The band was offered to open for Bitch at the Woodstock Club in LA. While performing the band was spotted by Brian Slagel, a former music journalist who had recently founded Metal Blade Records. Impressed with Slayer's performance, Slagel met with the band backstage and asked them to record an original song, "Aggressive Perfector". This gave them their first record deal with Metal Blade. During the the recording of their first album "Show No Mercy". Without a recording budget, the band was forced to self-finance its debut album. Combining the savings of Araya, who was employed as a respiratory therapist, and money borrowed from King's father. The album was rushed into release, hitting shelves three weeks after tracks were completed.
Some of their most famous albums and also the most controversial are "Reign In Blood" which contained their most famous song till today "Raining Blood". Then "South Of Heaven" which was a contrast to their past albums since they had a tempo change to a slower version and also more melodic sounding lyrics, and last but not least their most recent album "Christ Illusion", which up until today is known to be their most controversial album, not only for it's morbid lyrics and their heavy tones.

The band has admitted to have been inspired by bands such as Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax.

Some of the biggest controversies that the band has been blamed for have been being accused of holding Nazi sympathies, due to the band's eagle logo bearing resemblance to the Eagle atop swastika, and the lyrics of "Angel of Death." The lyrics of "Angel of Death" were inspired by the acts of Josef Mengele. Throughout their career, the band members were asked about these accusations, and have stated numerous times they do not condone Nazism and are merely interested in the subject. Slayer's cover of Minor Threat's "Guilty of Being White" raised questions about a possible message of white supremacy in the band's music. The controversy surrounding the cover involved the changing of the refrain "guilty of being white" to "guilty of being right," at the song's ending. When questioned about it Kerry King just laughed and said "people are just too sensitive these days".

Also Slayer fans have been known be deadly to the point of beatings and fights for no reason at concerts to carving of their bodies with the band's name such as the picture below, also up till today there have been 6 deaths at Slayer concerts.

Here's a video that talks about Slayer fans:

Heres is their most famous song Raining Blood, tell me what you think.

Iron Maiden Film.

Yes the rumors are true and Iron Maiden is releasing a documentary about their latest tour, which ended here in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. This film will include all the backstage footage such as the flights, practice footage, and some songs thrown here and there. Also this movie will be released in theaters, none in our area yet, sadly enough. The title was acquired from the fact that instead of a tour bus, the band rented a Boeing 757 which front man Bruce Dickinson piloted. As a result, Iron Maiden played live in thirteen different countries in just six weeks, clocking up 30,000 miles in the process. The film won the Best Documentary prize at this year's South by Southwest film festival and Iron Maiden collected the BRIT award for Best Live Band earlier this year.
Dickinson and McBrain were clearly comfortable with the seven-man camera crew. Their colleagues, including band leader and bassist Steve Harris, took longer to accept the intrusion. The filmmakers bonded with elusive guitarist Adrian Smith because they all played tennis. Another guitarist, Janick Gers, steered clear of the filmmakers until the last week.

Also in other news Maiden is planning another album which will be released in 2010 and they already hinted of another tour and they hinted for another Florida show. Thank God.

Watch the trailer and tell me what you think.

Time for some quality on the band of the week.

Ladies and gentlemen I give you Tenacious D.

Many of you are probably familiar with the movie "Tenacious D And The Pick Of Destiny", well yes this is a real band and they are very well known amongst the teenage crowd for their comedic music, including songs such as "Car Chase City" and "Tribute".

The band was formed as a side project by Jack Black and Kyle Gass when they met during the Edinburgh Fringe of 1989 in Scotland. Theywere both members of the Los Angeles theatre troupe, The Actors' Gang which was performing Tim Robbins' and Adam Simon's play Carnage. Initially there was clashing between the two as Gass felt threatened by Black, who was the main musician for the Actor's Gang, though they eventually worked out their differences, and agreed to form a band. Gass taught Black to play guitar, in exchange for Black helping Gass with his acting. Initially when Black and Gass performed live they covered songs by Bobby McFerrin.

Up until 1994 the duo did not have a name, so they gave the audience at their first concert, at the now defunct Al's Bar, the chance to vote for one. Black and Gass gave them the choiceto vote. "Tenacious D did not get the majority of votes, however, but according to Black "we forced it through".

The band started their fame with their HBO series titled after them in 1997. While a total of three episodes consisting of two shorts, ten to twelve minutes in length, were produced, only the first was aired that year; the final two episodes did not air until the summer of 2000. According to Gass, the series was cancelled after HBO requested ten episodes, but in doing so, he and Black would have to relinquish their role as executive producers, and only write songs. Gass and Black decided to make a movie instead. this was the birth of their first album also titled after them.

In October 2003 Black announced that the screenplay for The Pick of Destiny, a fictional portrayal of the band's formation had been completed, Filming had been expected to take place by the end of 2003, however it was delayed by almost a year due to Black being cast in Peter Jackson's big budget remake of King Kong. The band started recording songs for the soundtrack of the movie, their second studio album, The Pick of Destiny. The album had John Konesky and John Spiker from Trainwreck on electric guitar and bass respectively. Dave Grohl again played drums, and further lent vocals to "Beelzeboss (The Final Showdown)" as well as acting in the film, as Satan. By 2010 Tenacious D is planning to release a new album entitled "Death Star". Kyle has commented that the new album only has "one to one and a half" songs written for it, and would like to write between 12 and 15.

Here are a couple live videos of them playing tell me what you think.

Behemoth To Realease a new album.

Polish metal band Behemothn have set their new album to be realesd, it will be titled "Evangelion", this will be the bands 9th full lenght studio album, its to be released over this years summer.

Frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski commented: "I've had this title in my head for almost a year now and it grew on me. It sounds nothing but powerful and epic which perfectly mirrors the essence of the new album. 'Evangelion' comes from a Greek word [meaning] 'spreading the word of God' or 'spreading the good news'… Oh, well, you already know that we love to play with the meanings and symbolism. We're here to show you our interpretation of what 'Evangelion' really is." He also mentioned that compared to 2007's album 'The Apostasy' he is way more excited to record and work into new stuff.

The only way I can describe Behemoths music is by saying "Most of their songs are really fast, technical and intense, at the same time there's a lot of diversity. There's even a very slow, massive song that's probably the most epic tracks in Behemoth's history. There's probably a more sinister vibe in their music than in Marilyn Manson's or Ozzy Osbourne's music.

Behemoth has also been confirmed for the second annual Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, set to take place this summer. The band will perform on the Hot Topic stage alongside Black Dahlia Murder Job for a cowboy and Whitechapel on over 25 dates.

Listen to them and tell me what you think.

Killswitch Engage to release a new album.

The Massachusetts metal band Killswitch Engage will be releasing a new Cd under their name, yes i realize that its not a creative name but like they say don't judge a book by it's cover, or in my opinion don't judge a band by it's Cd cover especially if it's Killswitch Engage, the album is scheduled for june 30th. The CD was produced by Brendan O'Brien (producer of AC/DC, Rage Against The Machine) and co-produced by guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz.
Songtitles set to appear on the album include "Reckoning", "The Forgotten", "Light in a Darkened World" and "Starting Over".
Commented vocalist Howard Jones: "It was time for us to step outside of our comfort zone and try something a little different with this record. It definitely still sounds like us, but we needed to be refreshed and take things a little further."
Killswitch has been playing one of their new songs while touring with Disturbed in the Music As Weapon Tour, the songs title is "Light in a Darkened World", the group also performed the song at the first annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards, which was held on Tuesday, April 7 in Los Angeles. The song, sandwiched between "My Curse" and the band's uniquely KILLSWITCH'ed cover of DIO's classic song "Holy Diver", which resulted in plenty of excitement among the crowd and set the tone for the show. Also the band is excited to perform their new songs at "The Mayhem Festival" along with headliners Slayer and Marylin Manson.
More information on the upcoming CD will be made available soon at RoadrunnerRecords.com.
heres a video of their number one song "Holy Diver".

How Embassing!

"The Lord Of Metal" Ozzy Osbourne is officially sixty and still does not own a license to drive among the population of other Californians. Watch out Californians here comes Ozzy, with his hearse. He has set set the goal of learning to drive this year, so he can get a little quiet time. He says, "My house is like an insane asylum and I thought, 'It would be great to get in my car and drive around the block - just to be on my own.'" But Ozzy admits he's struggling to find driving instructors who will give him lessons. He explains, "Nobody will stay in the car with me for more than three lessons; they all think I'm nuts." His wife Sharon put her life in Ozzy's hands earlier this month when she let the rocker drive her the two hours from Los Angeles to Palm Springs.

In my opinion I don't blame any of those instructors for not wanting to be in the car with Ozzy, I would be scared of driving with this crack case too. Hes a deranged maniac......... Naw im just kidding, Ozzy has always been the Lord Of Metal and will remain so but after the antics hes had would you wannna be his driver instructor?
