Profile

Son of Saint Xenophon and Saint Mary of Constantinople; brother of Saint John. His family was part of the wealthy governing class of 5th century imperial Constantinople, but were known for their simple, Christian lives. While travelling to Beirut, Phoenicia with his brother to attend university, their ship was wrecked. Safely on shore, the brothers took the opportunity give over the long journey, and instead became monks, eventually living in a monastery in Jerusalem. They were there when their elderly parents came on pilgrimage, and the family was re-united; his parents stayed to live the monastic life themselves. A few years later, the entire family was martyred together.
