Your Catholic Week in Review (Our Lady of Victory Edition!)

This week, we celebrated the great feast of the Rosary, also called the Feast of Our Lady of Victory.  This feast, as you well know, was established in commemoration of the total victory of the Holy League over the invading Turkish fleet in Gulf of Patraikos, near Lepanto in Greece.  And the reason the victory is attributed to Our Lady and the Rosary is that the Holy League was outmanned, out gunned, and outnumbered by almost 2-1.  Prior to the battle, Pope Pius V called upon all of Christendom to pray the Rosary for victory.  Each ship was manned by a priest, who heard the confessions of all onboard, and as they sailed to meet the Turkish fleet, they all prayed the Rosary together.

Mystically, at the battle’s end, Pope Pius V knew of the victory won by the fleet, and Christendom was saved in her darkest hour.

Blessed Alain de la Roche, a 15^th century Dominican who was deeply devoted to spreading the Rosary, taught that Our Lady made 15 promises to those who devotedly recite the Rosary, one of which was that “You shall obtain all you ask of me by recitation of the Rosary.”

As in 1571, the Church and the world today are at an extremely serious crossroads, and we are fast approaching our own Lepanto moment.

Right now, satanic forces are at work to put an apostate Catholic at the head of this country! St. Bernadette said that she only fears “Bad Catholics.” We should, too!  This apostate, who claims to be a “faithful, practicing Catholic,” has officiated TWO same-sex “marriages,” wants to fully fund the baby-murdering organization Planned Parenthood, has stated his intention to protect the right to murder a baby up until moments before birth, has stated his intention to strip away conscience protections for faithful citizens, and is being championed by globalist, Communist forces.

But Our Lady crushes the head of the serpent!

While we all know that Our Lady was victorious through the power of the Rosary over seemingly insurmountable odds at the Battle of Lepanto … you may not be aware that Our Lady and the Rosary saved Brazil from becoming a communist country in the early 1960s.

In 1960, Joao Goulart, the president of Brazil, was making a very strong push to put the entire country under the red flag of communism.  Goulart began stacking important government positions with rabid communists while sending out government officials to try to convince the citizenry that they should all adopt communism.

To counter this, Cardinal de Barros Camara began telling Catholics in weekly radio broadcasts heard throughout the country that the power of the Rosary was greater than the communist threat.  He besought faithful Catholics to follow the plan for peace established by Our Lady at Fatima by praying the Rosary every day with devotion.

One of the people who heard the Cardinal’s call was a woman named Dona Amelia Bastos.  Dona was inspired by the Cardinal to form an organization she called Campaign of Women for Democracy (CAMDE), whose purpose was to recruit as many people as possible to pray the Rosary together in large groups, specifically to put an end to the communist takeover of Brazil.

Her Rosary gatherings drew in thousands!  In one town, a communist rally was set to flight by 20,000 women reciting the Rosary.  Cardinal Camara began helping Dona, and by Our Lady’s grace, a force of 600,000 women gathered in Sao Paulo, where they prayed the Rosary.  And despite the threat of military intervention, these Rosary rallies persisted throughout the country, disrupting and discouraging the attempts by communist politicians and agents to communize the country.  In four years, the communist president, Goulart, was forced to flee Brazil.

Our Lady will NEVER refuse to keep her promises, and she will hear and answer our prayers.

The threat of a communist takeover is looming over this country as never before!  In Brazil, the serpent of communism was crushed by Our Lady.  At Lepanto, the serpent of Islam was crushed by Our Lady.  And if we fight now, making sacrifices, offering penances, and praying the Rosary with devotion, she will hear our prayer and once again crush the head of the serpent menacing us today.

Our Lady of the Rosary, deliver us from the hands of the enemy!
