A major global campaign is calling on Pope Francis to try vegan for Lent to ‘help fight climate change with diet change’, and unsurprisingly Piers Morgan has something to say about it…

A major new global campaign, Million Dollar Vegan is offering $1 million to a charity of the Pope’s choice should he pledge to eat a plant-based diet for Lent.

Unsurprisingly, Piers Morgan felt the need to share his opinion on the campaign on the ITV television show he co-hosts with Susanna Reid, Good Morning Britain.

Discussing the campaign, Morgan has kindly offered to match the donation offered by Million Dollar Vegan “if every vegan on the planet just shuts up!”

Getting worked up over the campaign which aims to highlight environmental and animal welfare issues in a bid to make the world a better place, Morgan exclaimed: “You had your month – you had Veganuary, it’s over. If you wanna go and eat kale and you want to go and eat your bee-killing almonds and your insect-destroying bread, go and do it and shut up.”

But co-host Susanna Reid, clearly tired of hearing her co-hosts protests against veganism, bit back to say: “All the vegans in the world could raise more than a million to get you to shut up about veganism, I reckon.”

Not one to back down from an argument, Morgan continued undeterred: “I will pay a million dollars if every vegan shuts up for a calendar year – all of you, the whole lot of you, stop screeching about your ghastly, ghastly way of life.”

Echoing the sentiments of vegans across the world, Ms Reid retorted with: “Why does it hurt you in any way?”

Clutching at straws, Morgan replied to say: “Because I’m a Catholic and they’re taunting my pope! As a Catholic, I’m defending the holy father against this ridiculous taunting from radical vegans. They have no limits, these people.

“I see my life as the resistance – the vegan resistance.”

Piers has made headlines in the past month due after he made headlines when he Tweeted saying “Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns” following the news that high-street bakery chain Gregg’s was releasing a vegan version of its popular sausage roll.

Sadly for Piers, vegans will never ‘shut up’ and stop spreading the word about the endless benefits of veganism for the future of the plant and all of its inhabitants.
