Giuseppe Moscati (25 July 1880 – 12 April 1927) was an Italian doctor, scientific researcher, and university professor noted both for his pioneering work in biochemistry and for his piety. Moscati was canonized by the Catholic Church in 1987; his feast day is 16 November.

The miracle for his canonization was the inexplicable cure of a young man who was dying of leukemia. His mother dreamed of a doctor in a white coat, whom she identified when her pastor showed her a photo of Blessed Giuseppe. Through his intercession, her son was cured and returned to his job as an ironworker.

St. Giuseppe Moscati was an Italian lay doctor and scientific researcher in the eighteenth and nineteenth century known for being a faithful Catholic practicing medicine. In 1906, he helped save the life of many elderly and paralytic patients at the hospital where he was serving when Mount Vesuvius erupted.

He cared for the wounded soldiers and helped them become good Catholics. Dr. Moscati's philosophy for medical practice was to save souls by caring for the body. He believed that the health of the body depended upon the soul remaining in the state of grace.
