This was the final book I read about each of the four candidates for President and Vice-President. It was the only one not written by the candidate. Charlotte, Mike Pence's daughter, wrote this book. It offered a unique look into the world of a political campaign and of the VP through the eyes of his child.

This was a refreshing book written by Vice President Pence's middle child Charlotte (they had three kids in three years). It was great to read all the stories of growing up in this family, his faith, the 2016 campaign - how the first time she met Donald Trump she was amazed of his genuine heart and desire to help others in this country. This was a great book with insight to the vice Presidents faith and his outlook. Thoroughly enjoyed!

Interesting verse used by Pence to guide his children, Jonah 2:8. Lots of advice she received from her father.

After reading Mike Pence's book I was lucky enough to find his daugther's book at our library and thoroughly enjoyed reading it in a matter of just a couple of hours. A very thoughtful and respectful treatment of what a young girl learned from both her Mom and Dad and siblings as her family navigated the public arena of being a child of a politician and then thrust into the national spotlight in the 2016 presidential campaign. In my opinion she is a talented writer and several of her stories written her were included in her dad's book later on. She does not come across as preachy one bit as she shares her own journey to faith. But, you get a very deep inspirational nudge towards the foundation that everything was based on in her parents lives and with her family. I would say a must read before or after you read the formal Vice President's biography.

I was first intrigued when I heard Charlotte Pence Bond’s name on a Daily Wire podcast. Was it that Pence? I then found out she had a book.

I’ve always found Mike Pence to be an enigma. For me the jury is still out. I plan to read his book soon, and I think I’ll have a few more conclusions then. I was deeply disturbed by the questioning of the election and discussing the baseless accusations of fraud, enabling Trump’s narrative of a stolen election. He eventually clearly stood on principle, certifying the election. I still don’t know what to make of it all. I used to wonder if he was called as a Daniel to Nebuchadnezzar or a Joseph to Pharaoh.

Reading Charlotte’s Pence’s book is definitely a win in Mike Pence’s column for me. Unsurprisingly, he’s raised an amazing daughter. The Pence family does well prioritizing family. There's a consistent, clear impression that this is a very loving and healthy family.

That segues to a major impact this book has had on me. I have a daughter, and being raised with just a brother, this book has helped me grasp the inner workings and maturing of a young woman. It has helped me envisage the maturation of a young woman fully immersed in a world of many different values and belief systems yet navigating and sinking her faith roots deep through the course of it all. She has led a reflective, thoughtful life at her young age. It gives me something to imagine about the future of my kids. In a way she has pioneered this in my mind.

Faith is hugely important to me, but the discussion of it is often so overt as to sound a bit manufactured. Charlotte has described her journey with the seeds of faith growing as an undercurrent theme. I think that’s often much closer to reality for those with a deep faith, not the showy, superficial kind.

The book was an enjoyable read. She has a very natural voice. The stories come with profound yet unimposing life lessons woven like one gold strand in a larger thread. One such lesson is about being yourself and a tried-and-true Pence phrase, "Climb your own mountain". There are too many life lessons woven into casual stories to list them all.

- Climb your own mountain
- You're not a quitter
- Seek out those who make assumptions about you
- Everyone is under-encouraged
- As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15)

The cadence of adventures and thoughtful make for a nice, easy, casual read. I enjoyed it and am grateful for a new way to envision life for my own kids.

A quote Charlotte includes:
"We can't take any credit for our talents. It's how we use them that counts." Madeleine L'Engle, A Wrinkle in Time

Written by the middle child of Mike and Karen pence. I have mixed feelings about the book. It was not written tightly nor extremely well. Lots of stories per short chapter that all tie together loosely at the end of chapters, but seem very disconnected along the way. The author is quite young (including in her own faith)... However, despite all of this— maybe because of it—there was something so charming about the sweet childhood memories and the way she adores her family. I could so well relate to the family relationships and the Godly parent examples. I treasured her constant reminders that mike pence puts his marriage and kids first. And it made me appreciate this man so much as a Godly light in politics (her words roughly). He is a solid believer who wants to glorify God and love others. So rare to read such strong character and such humility from a politician. And makes me appreciate the job he is doing even more during the last few months. He never expected to sign up for coronavirus craziness! I laughed at the recollection of “pet night” at capital hill where the “DC hillbillies” brought a dog, two cats and a lizard to the capitol. How clearly I could see my own dorky family at times in the past... misfits and yet making sweet memories and having fun together as a family. Love their wholesomeness.
And the book title? A quote from Ruth. I appreciated the sentiment more than anything else, I think. It is hard to leave the comfort of the content, happy unknown for a different calling. I can very much relate. And yet, Mike pence never let that stop him from going where God leads even when it meant selling the family home where the three magnolias were planted when the kids were born, or later selling the family home full of memories in the country. Etc etc. I distinctly got the impression that he is not in politics for the prestige or power but as a calling to follow the Lord into the uncomfortable unknown.

I thought it might be interesting to learn about the Vice President through the eyes of his daughter, Charlotte Pence. The book tells stories about the Pence family, in general, as well as other more personal accounts and reflections of his daughter. She shares much about what it was like to be on the campaign trail with her parents and what she learned from them along the way. She describes the wholesomeness of her family and how faith played a role in her family as well as in her own life.

Charlotte Pence has the father every little girl and boy deserves. The way she lovingly speaks about her father and turns their memories into stories is amazing and brings the reader into her family unit. As I read, I learned so much about Mike Pence, his family, and how he taught life lessons during real-life events and in the best manner. One of the life lessons that really grabbed my heartstrings was, "Call cashiers by the name on their name tag. See everyone."

The writing was well done and had an easy flow. I recommend this book to whoever is thinking about reading it.

I have no doubt after reading this book that there is countless valuable wisdom being passed on within the Pence family. I loved reading their captivating family stories and highlighting line after line of wisdom.

Traditions, rituals, and values are important and I want to pass on what I think is important throughout multiple generations of my family. This book gave me additional ideas of how to do that.

My top takeaway from this book:
- Climb your own mountain and compete with yourself
- Slow down to make small talk
- Find balance
- Tell the important people in your life they are doing a great job and that you love them
- What to do when you're feeling stuck

I actually wrote 2500+ words of review, and I hope you'll take time to read the full post here.

A personal memoir by the Vice President’s second child, Charlotte, of her time traveling with her parents during the 2016 campaign as well as stories of her childhood focusing on lessons her father taught her about life. Charlotte’s deep and kind heart shines through her writing, as does her faith. This book is a treasure and a fun glimpse inside a campaign and family that I have watched closely from the outside.

Charlotte tells about growing up in the Pence family. Memoirs from childhood to when her father became the VP of the United States. Wrote quite a bit about their faith. Both parents encouraged each child to follow their individual dreams.

No matter what your political leanings are, Mike Pence was a wonderful father and they have a close family life. Charlotte speaks from the heart and has positive things to say even about those from the other side. There are spiritual lessons to be learned. It was a sweet read and I wish her well in Divinity School. She is an asset to our administration.

No matter what your political affiliation is, Mike Pence is an honest, caring man who cares deeply about his family and his country. The book is written by his daughter, Charlotte, and she describes her life growing up and her life on the campaign trail. I found the book sweet but a little boring and dull. It did reinforce my opinion of our Vice President as a great man.

Charlotte Pence knows how to inspire the reader in a completely unbiased manner. Her choice to enter the Harvard Divinity program in Cambridge makes perfect sense. She can now unify her life experiences with her studies to magnify her writing and reach even more people who truly desire and need her brand of UPLIFTING! I'll be waiting...

She had some good things to say. The book read a little like a devotional. However, I feel there was alot of repetition. The book could have been shortened considerably. I have to admit, by the end I was trying to skim to get through the book.

A sweet devotion to the Pence family from their middle child.
Satisfactory but not exceptional in the writing style, the book was saved by the stories which were the sort that warm you from the inside out.

Charlotte retells a lot of the same stories Mike Pence tells in So Help Me God. It's a sweet story. I get the impression Mike Pence is a very decent Christian man, a good father. He told his kids do what's right and just at work then go home.

Mike Pence is a respectable guy and I'm a fan, but I found this book boring. It's more an account of his daughter's time on the campaign trail than anything.

A short and sweet book written by second daughter Charlotte Pence. In this book she discusses her faith, how much she adores her family, and the 2016 presidential campaign.
Charlotte Pence comes across as young and innocent and has a charming perspective about life. She looks for the good in others and believes in always pushing herself out of her introverted comfort zone. I think she is still coming into her own with her writing style but this will come with time. For now, her innocence is refreshing enough to enjoy.
Religion and God are big topics in this book and I would not recommend reading this unless you like Christian literature or consider yourself a spiritual person.
Rating: three and a half stars out of five and recommended to Christian young women or at least a spiritual person who likes the Pence family.

Christmas gift from Gail. The best parts of the book are the first-hand descriptions of what was going on during the Trump/Pence presidential campaign. Otherwise, sort of a milk-toast book.
