A hospital worker in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad died day after receiving a coronavirus vaccine shot. The district CMO confirmed the death of the hospital worker, saying the reason for his death was heart attack.

A hospital worker died on Sunday evening after receiving the Covishield vaccine shot in Moradabad of Uttar Pradesh. The 46-year-old hospital employee had received a shot of the Covishield vaccine against the coronavirus infection just 24 hours before he died.

Moradabad Chief Medical Officer (CMO) has confirmed the death of a Moradabad hospital employee, identified as Mahipal Singh. The CMO has said Mahipal Singh died due to a heart attack. The reason for Mahipal Singh's death in the postmortem report is a heart attack, the CMO said.

Mahipal Singh had taken a shot of the Covishield vaccine on Friday when PM Narendra Modi had launched the mega vaccination drive against the novel coronavirus.

India has so far vaccinated about 70.89 per cent of the targeted beneficiaries in the past two days. Of the 316,375 total beneficiaries, 224,301 have received vaccinations in India.

On Day 1 of the vaccination drive, India vaccinated 1,91,181 healthcare and frontline workers and reported a couple of adverse events. On Day 1, Delhi and Rajasthan had reported adverse events following vaccine shots.

In Delhi, as many as 51 healthcare workers experienced minor adverse events after being vaccinated against Covid-19 in New Delhi on Saturday. While two of these cases were reported from Charak Hospital, another two have come to light from the Northern Railway Central Hospital in the national capital.

At a press conference on Saturday, the Union health ministry said a total of 447 adverse event following immunisation (AEFI) have been reported from across the country over the past two days. Out of these, three vaccine recipients were in need of hospital care.
