An interreligious meeting dubbed "No One Is Saved Alone - Peace and Fraternity" took place on Rome’s Capitoline Hill.

The initiative featured a prayer service and a ceremony and was organized by the lay Catholic community Sant’Egidio in a difficult moment in history for humanity, afflicted by the pandemic and by old and new wars in progress.

Representatives of the world’s great religions such as the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, the Muslim General Secretary of the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity Mohamed Abdelsalam Abdellatif, and the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople attended the religious gathering.

During the meeting, leaders from different religious faiths hold prayers for peace and harmony simultaneously but in different venues before coming together for the final ceremony. The interreligious ceremony was also attended by Italy’s President Sergio Mattarella.

After the speeches by the leaders of world religions and the delivery of the 2020 Appeal for Peace, the interreligious ceremony concluded with a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the coronavirus pandemic and all wars.
