Koop McCabe was a charming, charismatic, outgoing funny person who touched more lives than he even knew. Kooper “Koop” McCabe, 17, of Galion passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.

He was born April 29, 2005 in Columbus and was the son of Herbert D. III, and Jessica R. (Redmon) McCabe.

Koop was currently a senior at Galion High School and was on the football and wrestling team. He was big into nutrition, weightlifting, diesel trucks, fast cars, loved his family and recently started working at Roosters Restaurant in Mansfield as their first male host.

He is survived by his parents; sister Lydia R. McCabe; twin brother, Ryder G. McCabe; maternal grandmother, Brenda Frost of Galion; numerous aunts and uncles, Ryan (Maria) Francisco of Galion, William (Megan) Bollinger of Johnstown, Ohio, Rodney (Kristin) Hess of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Tony Kelly of Johnstown, Ohio, Kya (Jon) Achtermann of Wilmington, Ohio, Lucy (Josh) Perman of Galion and Margie Kelly of Pataskala, Ohio and numerous cousins.

Kooper was preceded in death by Shelby Ann Lust; great-grandfather, Ulis Hess; great-grandmother, Vernie Walter; grandparents, Nancy and Bill Bollinger and great-grandparents, Roslie and Harrison Redmon.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Wesley Chapel, 240 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where a celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating.
