Write-up: Patient developed a rash. It was a petechiae like rash across his chest and stomach. It started 48 hours after I received the shot in the afternoon. After I got the vaccine I was still breastfeeding him. He did not have any new foods that I believe caused the rash. He did receive 3 or 4 of his routine vaccines a week before, but I''m not for sure of the name of those vaccines he received. He also had covid back in March of 2021 when he was two weeks old. He was also a premature baby born at 34 weeks. He has also been intermittently having daycare colds.

CDC Split Type:

Write-up: Acute immune thrombocytopenia. Presented with diffuse ecchymotic and petechial lesions and recent history of epistaxis, with exam on admission notable for slight mucosal bleeding. Found to be profoundly thrombocytopenic (plt count 0 on 1/22/22) with all other cell counts appropriate on CBC, presentation most likely consistent with ITP. No recent h/o viral infection, but could be secondary to covid vaccine on 1/14. Due to presence of mucosal bleeding, patient received 1x dose of IVIG on 1/22. Subsequently showed good response in Platelets uptrending from 0 -- $g 6 (1/23) -- $g 17 (1/24) prior to discharge. Bleeding symptoms and signs on exam improved. Discharged in stable condition on 1/24/2022 after reviewing need for activity restrictions until Plt count improves $g 50-100. Will have outpatient Hematology f/up in next 2-3 weeks and will repeat Plt count at that time.
