I am sure that Abramo will answer you as soon as he sees your post. In the meantime, I would like to give it a shot. A little background. I am an American traditional Catholic born into the faith who is conservative politically, fiscally and socially.

To address your lesbian sister first and then liberalism. Of course she is looking for justification for her behavior and has found a willing ally in the bewildering words of Pope Francis. With its acceptance and glorification on TV, the movies, music and even advertisements, if it wasn't the pope, I am sure she would find some other “rational” reason to justify homosexuality. After all, Ellen does it!

Although I've had no direct experience like yours, my immediate suggestion would be patience and prayer. If her issue is hopefully resolved in a Christian manner, it will be on an unknown timetable. Only God knows. When that time is approaching (it could be years) you may notice a change in her behavior and in her words to you. This is predicated on your being there for her even during these dark days and encouraging her in her life without broaching the volatile subject of homosexuality. She will not forget your kindness and you may be the person who is instrumental in her eventual conversion.

When the time is right you can ask her, if she needed it, who she would prefer to do open heart surgery on her? Would she want the hospital resident with 3 years experience or would she prefer the world renowned chairman of the Cardiology department who has done thoracic surgery for the past 25 years? The answer is obvious. Just as obvious as whose words are more important...the words of St. Paul or Jorge Mario Bergoglio? It may be some time before you can say these kind of things to her since I believe your primary directive at this time is to make sure you remain a close friend with her who she can trust implicitly and not someone who is trying to challenge her or show her how wicked she is. You may be the only one in the family who remains her close friend. Although it might take a lot of restraint on your part to act in such a way (I know it would for me), I believe it is the most effective way. Pray continually for your intention. It will happen on His time not yours.

Catholics who read this piece will fall back on their recliners and breath hard thinking that they just "dodge a bullet" by him saying this... Priests who were worried will "breathe" a little better because they will think the same, while all the harm that he has done is out there.

My Lesbian sister is looking for another female to create scandal and when I approach her about her situation and quoted St Paul in Corinthians, her response was... "your pope said who am I to judge"

How many souls have thought that all paths leads to God seeing Muslims pray in the Vatican and 'papa' telling them that "the faith of their Fathers will take them far"? Two out of the 4 Churches I used in different time slots due to my job and life, 2 priests ARE giving the Eucharist to divorce and remarried people because of this pope...

If 'papa' Bergoglio knew for the longest time that his words were null, why he doesn't correct them so that Priests don't err? To tell you the truth Abramo, 'papa' Bergoglio must be feeling the 'heat' to say such a thing and expect for the waters to calm while his heresies have flowing before, during and after his 'election.

Abramo... do you really think that God will 'look away' about any heresies that we commit if we don't try to resolved them? To be clear... he is not apologizing from his 'off the cuff' words nor correcting them, he just says 'yeah they are null' whatever... Instead of the word “tyrants” substitute the words “a large section of the magisterium” and I don't see why that quote cannot also be applied to the problems in today's Catholic Church.
