Staff Breaks: On Saturday, Pope Francis visited Sarajevo. He was to use his Paul VI style pastoral staff but it broke. Thinking fast, the master of ceremonies Msgr. Guido Marini working against the clock, fixed the staff with - adhesive tape. Fr John Zuhlsdorf commented on his blog: “Staff breaks? Staff it out!”

Decision: During his flight back from Sarajevo Pope Francis said that the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith is soon going to make a decision about Medjugorie. Almost simultaneously Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller, the prefect of the Congregation, forbad a famous Medjugorie prayer meeting in the diocese of Modena, Italy. The already organized meeting was scheduled for June 20th. Vicka one of the visionaries, and Franciscan friars of Medjugorie were supposed to participate. In the past years the same meetings used to be encouraged by the local archbishop, who died in February.

Agnostic Monarch: On May 20th, seven-year-old Leonor de Borbón, the heiress to the Spanish throne celebrated her First Communion, but her parents wanted the ceremony to be private because they consider religion to be a private matter. When king Felipe VI, Leonor’s father, took over the throne last year, all references to religion were eliminated in the ceremony. Filipe also managed to deliver his first Christmas address without mentioning Christmas once. Now Queen Letizia of Spain who is known for not genuflecting during religious ceremonies, has withdrawn her two daughters from religious education in their school.

Dominican At Last: Last Thursday, Cardinal Dom Alexandre Do Nascimento, the former archbishop of Luanda, Angola, has joined the order of the Dominicans. The ceremony took place at the Dominican convent in Luanda and was witnessed by envoys of the Roman Curia of the order. Do Nascimento wanted to be a Dominican since becoming a seminarian in 1937. He turned 90 on March first.

Pride is one of the Capital Sins. The King and Queen of Spain must put GOD first in all things, otherwise it is idolatry.
