No Time: Pope Francis has cancelled a visit to Milan scheduled for May 7th. This was perceived as an affront against Milan Cardinal Scola. The official reason is: too many commitments during the Holy Year. But Italian media were quick in pointing out that next year Francis has time to visit Mexico and Poland. In 2013, Scola tried twice to invite Francis to the Expo in Milan, but was given the cold shoulder. In 2014 Francis cancelled in the last minute a visit at the Roman hospital Gemelli where Cardinal Scola was waiting for him. The visit to Milan was re-scheduled for 2017, but then Scola could already be retired.
Success? Ettore Gotti Tedeschi, the former head of Vatican Bank, has warned that one reform wanted by Pope Francis risks to have – quotation marks – “success”: the Pope’s aim to produce a poor Church. Gotti sees the Italian Church tax in danger and fears a decline of donations. About the two and a half years during which Pope Francis has tried to clean up the Church’s finances he writes: “I have come to the conviction that he was never explained how he should do this.”
50’000: Global Sisters Report has presented a study showing that the number of vowed female religious in the U.S. today is approximately the same as it was a century ago — just under 50,000. The study aims at dispelling “excessive pessimism” regarding the future of religious life. However, of today’s nearly 50,000 sisters, only 9 percent are younger than 60.
Shame on You: Chaldean Catholic Bishop Francis Kalabat of Southfield has sharply criticized the Obama administration, saying it has largely ignored the suffering of Christians displaced by war in Syria and Iraq. Quote: "There are countless Christian villages in Syria that have been taken over by ISIS and have encountered genocide, and the Obama administration refuses to recognize their plight. I say, shame on you." Kalabat spoke before a U.S. House subcommittee.

Según la página web ultimostiempos.org el Arzobispo de Milán Angelo Scola fue quien ganó la cuarta votación en el Cónclave, mas habiendo sucedido que alguien introdujo una papeleta de más,- es decir, sobraba y estaba en blanco- dicha elección fue anulada , lo cual constituyó una grave irregularidad según afirma el sitio, pues no era justificación para anular la elección en la que Scola resultó ganador.. así lo publicó: "en el cónclave, la tarde del 13 de marzo, en la cuarta votación del día, aparecieron 116 votos, cuando solo había 115 cardenales en el aula. Un cardenal metió una papeleta de más. Esa cuarta votación la ganó el Cardenal Angelo Scola de Milán (la misma Conferencia Episcopal Italiana emitió un boletín felicitando a Scola por haber sido electo Papa). La votación se anuló indebidamente. El sitio de Angelo Scola publicó que el recién electo Papa tomó el nombre de Juan XXIV. Lo replicó también Wikipedia. A los pocos minutos ambos sitios quitaron ese resultado... la Constitución Apostólica Universi Dominici Gregis (Art. 69) establece que cuando hubiera dos papeletas dobladas como proviniendo de un mismo cardenal y tuviesen el mismo nombre o uno estuviese en blanco, se debe contar como un solo voto. Si, en cambio, lleva dos nombres diversos, se anulan ambas papeletas y ninguno de los dos votos es válido. Pero claramente establece: "en ninguno de los dos casos se deberá anular la elección". En este caso, hubo una papeleta blanca de más. Y no se siguió lo establecido, sino que se anuló la elección, cosa que estaba expresamente prohibido. Contraviniendo las disposiciones de la Constitución, la cuarta votación se declaró nula, obligaron al Cardenal Angelo Scola, recién electo Juan XXIV, a renunciar y regresar a la Capilla Sixtina, y se procedió a una quinta votación.
