God's Not Dead.

A Note From Fr. Barr

Happy Easter!

I wanted to take a short break from the Liturgy of the Eucharist series simply to say Happy Easter! Every Sunday is considered to be its own little Easter. We get to participate in the resurrection of Jesus.

This past week we experienced the welcoming of Jesus into Jerusalem, but then things quickly changed with the betrayal which leads to Jesus' cruel torture and death. Humanity put God on the cross. Our sins took part in this sacrifice. Our sins meet the tenderness of God. The tenderness of God triumphs over our sins. Love wins! We can have our chocolate and all the toys we fast from. But do we remember to cost of our salvation? Not that we have to beat ourselves over the head. Today is the day to thank Him for such a wonderful gift. Coming to this realization, shouldn't this experience change our lives?

We should be basking in the love of God. Whenever you feel down or the cross you have feels too heavy, Jesus is always there to help you. Praying the psalms can be a great source of consolation as well as praying the rosary. Frank Runyeon talked about how we as Americans get caught into being human doings and forget to simply be with Jesus. Take the time you need to get the strength, wisdom and love you need to carry on. The Divine Mercy Chaplet is another prayer that can bring us peace.

Next week we will be having extra celebrations to rejoice in being in the arms of God. I invite you to the Divine Mercy Feast Day liturgies beginning at 1:00 pm next Sunday. There will be adoration and confessions available till 3:00 pm. We also have a speaker who will talk to us about God's infinite mercy. At 3:00 pm we will sing the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and we will finish with a Mass basking in His mercy. Simply by attending this event, you will receive a plenary indulgence. Jesus said to St Faustina, "Whoever will recite [the chaplet] will receive great mercy at the hour of death." Allow this mercy to change your life.
