Bishop Fellay Answers to the Pope

In a statement Bishop Bernard Fellay, the superior of the Society of St. Pius X , has welcomed the Popes letter to the world's bishops explaining his decision to lift the excommunications of four SSPX bishops. Fellay’s group fully supports the Pope's desire for Church unity. Responding to the Pope's statement that the Catholic Magisterium was not frozen in time, Bishop Fellay said: “Far from wanting to stop Tradition in 1962, we wish to consider the Second Vatican Council and the post-Conciliar magisterium in the light of this Tradition.

Exonerated Bishops

Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone has exonerated Poland’s bishops of charges of collaboration with the nation’s former Communist rulers. “The Holy See states that it finds no basis for accusing Polish bishops of committed and willing collaboration. “Because of this, we consider the matter closed” – the Cardinal said according to a statement from the Polish bishops’ conference.

Using Victims of Abortions

Professor Richard Gardner of Oxford University has suggested to use organs from aborted babies for transplants. Gardner referred to a severe shortage of donated organs and suggested that victims of abortion might be a "more realistic" source of vital organs, particularly kidneys. Dr. Peter Saunders of the Christian Medical Fellowship said such transplants would be immoral because every human being deserves “protection, respect, wonder and empathy.”
