Leo XIV’s Sunday homily at Sant’Anna should have been an easy pitch over the plate. The Gospel text could not have been clearer: “You cannot serve both God and Mammon.” But instead of calling modern Catholics to mortification, detachment, and a return to the hard teaching of Our Lord, Leo pivoted into a homily of horizontalist redistribution. Wealth was presented not as an idol that damns the soul, but as a resource to be “shared,” “managed,” and “planned” into a better society.

What did another Pope Leo (the 13th) say? Quote: “For, every man has by nature the right to possess property as his own... Socialists, therefore, by endeavoring to transfer the possessions of individuals to the community at large, strike at the interests of every wage-earner, since they would deprive him of the liberty of disposing of his wages, and thereby of all hope and possibility of increasing his resources and of bettering his condition in life."

Wealth is not intrinsically "an idol that damns the soul." Many Saints in the world were wealthy (beginning with Sts. Lazarus, Mary & Martha), but renounced selfish private ownership of their wealth, distributing their resources to further the Kingdom and Glory of GOD.

"For if they do these things when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?”—Luke 23:31.

From his ( Kirk’s) comments regarding Francis especially you could say that he took the Church at its word, that the Holy Father is Christ’s Vicar on Earth. Doubting the identity of the Holy Father ( with ample reason) may mean he took the Church’s teaching on the Papacy more seriously than most Catholics. It doesn’t mean he was against the idea of the Papacy (rare among protestants).

The Catholic Church is Essentially Perfect.

The message to the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana is a masterclass in post-conciliar diplomacy. Leo blesses “synergy” among religions, invokes Assisi 1986, and hails Abu Dhabi 2019 as a “blueprint” for peace. The theology is pure Nostra Aetate maximalism: religions as parallel wells feeding the same river of solidarity. That is not the Gospel. The Apostles did not announce “synergy”; they announced a Name.

After reading about the recent interview Pope Leo XIV gave to Crux Senior Correspondent Elise Ann Allen, I couldn’t help but think of one of my former students, whose name was also “Leo.” One of 30 Third Order Regular (TOR) novices and seminarians from various East Coast dioceses whom I taught in first and second theology, Leo was the only seminarian whom I did not recommend for orders. I explained to the other faculty members that my evaluation was not based on Leo’s grades in my three courses, but stemmed from what I perceived as certain psychological and other limitations on his part. The other faculty members disagreed with my assessment, and Leo was retained.

CLUELESS COMPLICIT CATHOLICS
By Gene Thomas Gomulka
Had the populations of Dresden and other Axis cities decided not to go to work in their factories that were making tanks, bombs, and other munitions to fuel the Axis war machines, Dresden, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki might never have been obliterated. Even though they were not fighting in their countries’ armed forces, countless German and Japanese civilians perished during the aerial bombings because they were complicit in the horrors orchestrated by their leaders, Adolf Hitler and Prime Minister Hideki Tojo.
Owing to a propagandized media, most Germans and Japanese were uninformed about all the atrocities being committed that led to between 70 and 85 million deaths. This is very similar to lay Catholics who are not well informed by the Pope, bishops, and their parish priests about the true scope of the clerical sex abuse crisis that has destroyed countless lives and has led over forty U.S. dioceses, eparchies, and religious orders to …More

"Had the populations of Dresden and other Axis cities decided not to go to work in their factories that were making tanks, bombs, and other munitions to fuel the Axis war machines, Dresden, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki might never have been obliterated"
---
That is a naive point of view, as there were many forced laborers from occupied lands in Dresden.
However, there is truth about complicity of many German Catholics, prelates included, in the Hitler's regime in the name of one of major weapons to destroy remnants of the Christendom i.e. nationalism.

While Michael Matt and Trad Inc. dig in with the strategy of breadcrumbs, appeasement, and "wait and see," Traditional Catholics should move on to reclaim the heritage that is rightfully ours.

Preach the truth in season and out .St Thomas Aquinas is never out of season.

Stop outsourcing your conscience to press releases. Stop letting “synodality” mean endless meetings in place of obedience. Support priests and bishops who teach the faith whole and entire, publicly and without coded winks. Write your dioceses and the USCCB and demand the obvious. No collaboration with AUSCP or any group that catechizes sin. No pulpits for “queer Jesus.” No photo-ops that normalize dissent. And when Rome tries to sell you continuity as a virtue, ask them to show you continuity with the Catechism, with Trent, with the ordinary magisterium that actually binds. Continuity with Francis is not a beatitude.
