And when we stand before Our Lord for our own judgement and he asks how fervently and frequently we prayed and sacrificed for poor sinners at every opportunity, what could we possibly say?
Be careful, friends, with your hasty judgements.
"For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." Matthew 12:37

BTW When I was a boy my father always said the Grace After Meals:
"We give Thee thanks for all your benefits, O Almighty God, Who lives and reigns forever;
and may the souls of the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God,
rest in peace.

Amen.
How many of us still pray the Grace after Meals?

@John A Cassani So it does. But swear to whom or what? Christ the King? Only 2 Presidents have ever 'affirmed' the others swore, but the overriding question remains. To the God of all Christians or not?
