Jan. 19 Saint Fabian. breski1 January 19, 2008 Saint Fabian Fabian was a Roman layman who came into the city from his farm one day as clergy and people were preparing to elect a new pope. Eusebius, a Church historian, says a dove flew in and settled on the head of Fabian. This sign united the votes of clergy and laity and he was chosen unanimously. He led the Church for 14 years and died a martyr’s death during the persecution of Decius in a.d. 250. St. Cyprian wrote to his successor that Fabian was an “incomparable” man whose glory in death matched the holiness and purity of his life. In the catacombs of St. Callistus, the stone that covered Fabian’s grave may still be seen, broken into four pieces, bearing the Greek words, “Fabian, bishop, martyr.”
Pope Leo XIV appointed today 19 people as consultors of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue. The names are completely in line with Francis’ appointments. Examples: Emilce Cuda (Pontifical Commission for Latin America) In 2022, she criticized the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade (legal abortion in the USA), warning that many Catholics “confuse defense of life with defense of ideological positions.” She stressed that human dignity goes beyond abortion and euthanasia to include “‘in-between’ issues.” (NcrOnline.org) Mónica Santamarina (World Union of Catholic Women’s Organizations) She advocates expanded roles for women in Church governance. In June 2023, Santamarina called for combating “clericalism” by increasing women’s presence in seminaries and Church leadership. She warned that after the Synod the Church could again "close its doors". Sister Mary Teresa Barron In October 2024, Synod delegate Sister Mary Teresa Barron said the question of women deacons should …More
Tolerating idol worship indicates that one either does not think the 1st commandment is important or it is a condescending pat on the head of the ignorant indigenous who just don´t know any better. A third possibility would be an agnosticism born out of a lack of faith in divine revelation.

1st book of Samuel 16,1-13. The LORD said to Samuel: "How long will you grieve for Saul, whom I have rejected as king of Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and be on your way. I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem, for I have chosen my king from among his sons." But Samuel replied: "How can I go? Saul will hear of it and kill me." To this the LORD answered: "Take a heifer along and say, 'I have come to sacrifice to the LORD.' Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I myself will tell you what to do; you are to anoint for me the one I point out to you." Samuel did as the LORD had commanded him. When he entered Bethlehem, the elders of the city came trembling to meet him and inquired, "Is your visit peaceful, O seer?" He replied: "Yes! I have come to sacrifice to the LORD. So cleanse yourselves and join me today for the banquet." He also had Jesse and his sons cleanse themselves and invited them to the sacrifice. As they came, he looked at Eliab and thought, "Surely the LORD'S anointed is here …More
Pope Leo XIV appointed today Coadjutor José Armando Álvarez Cano as Archbishop of Morelia, Mexico. Morelia is one of Mexico’s most important ecclesiastical jurisdictions. Álvarez was born in Jiquilpan, in the Diocese of Zamora, in January 1960. He was ordained a priest in 1986 for the Diocese of Zamora and holds a licentiate in pastoral theology. After serving in various parishes and spending two years as a missionary priest in Peru, he returned to Mexico as a parish priest and head of clergy formation in his diocese. He was appointed Bishop of the Territorial Prelature of Huautla in 2011 (10 parishes, 24 priests) by Benedict XVI and was ordained a bishop in January 2012. In 2019, he was transferred to become Bishop of Tampico (72 parishes, 147 priests). In January 2025, Pope Francis – with his Prefect Robert Prevost of the Congregation of Bishops – appointed him Coadjutor of Morelia (242 parishes, 455 priests). Homosexual Blessings in the Diocese of Tampico In December 2023, while he …More
Normally, I endorse everything Archbishop Vigano says but I'm having a problem with this message, specifically this: "receiving the Sacraments frequently, assisting at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass." The Archbishop should realize that, although good advice, it isn't very easy to accomplish any more. Great numbers of Churches that were offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass have now discontinued it. I live in a fairly large city and there is only ONE "shrine" where one can attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in the whole city. And it is in a high crime area. I don't feel safe going there. Many people must drive for many miles to find a Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, and for many, this is prohibitive. Of course, this includes receiving the other Sacraments. True Catholics are like sheep without a shepherd and many feel alone and abandoned. The Archbishop needs to recognize this and not offer impractical advice.

Louis Bouffard on the euthanasia law: "My life is worth living, even if it is fragile" Completely dependent and on life support, Louis loudly asserts that his life has meaning, value, and deserves to be lived to the fullest. He reflects with emotion on the loss of his mother, on the power of bonds, even at the end of life, and on what he himself calls: the beauty of fragility. But behind the parliamentary debates, he denounces a hidden social pressure that suggests to the most vulnerable that they are "too much." He warns: this vague and dangerous law already makes him eligible for assisted death, even though he wants to live. Louis reminds us that requesting death is not a choice, it is a cry for help. He speaks in schools, with young people, to change the way people view disability. And faced with a society that proposes death as the answer to suffering, he pleads for more listening, more support, more presence. "Even fragile, even dependent, I am fully alive. What I need isn't a lethal …More
Pope Leo XIV received Fr. John Berg, the Superior General of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP), in audience today, according to the Holy See Press Office. Father Berg previously served as Superior General of the FSSP from 2006 to 2018, before being elected again in July 2024. Today’s audience follows a series of significant interactions between the FSSP and the Holy See, including Pope Francis’s February 2024 meeting with FSSP leadership - "allowing" them to continue with the Roman rite. An Apostolic Visitation of the Fraternity has begun in September 2024. It is the first ordinary apostolic visitation of the FSSP since 2014. #newsDmgecmsjhj
Do you think any of these people ask him to rectify what bishop Schneider called 'abomination of desolation' at St. Peter's or do they just smile and ignore that and all the other horrors that come from Rome?

Gloria.TV, a Catholic video-sharing platform, shows no widespread reports of JPEG display issues or editor malfunctions as of January 2026. Common causes for such problems often stem from client-side factors like file format incompatibilities, such as using .jpeg instead of .jpg extensions or progressive JPEG compression not fully supported by the site. No official announcements from site owners or admins address these specific issues recently. Possible Causes File naming or type mismatch: Sites like Gloria.TV may only process standard .jpg files; renaming .jpeg to .jpg resolves display problems in similar cases. Browser or cache problems: Outdated browsers, corrupted cache, or extensions can prevent images and editors from loading properly. Local device issues: High-resolution files, corruption, or OS-specific photo app glitches (e.g., Windows Photos) block JPEG rendering. Troubleshooting Steps Rename files to .jpg and ensure baseline (not progressive) JPEG compression before …More
Since it appears all the upload images are .avif format, one last clue (then I'm done "sleuthing" - but since I haven't been on the site for awhile, maybe all these possibilities hae already been visited): It could be a server setting, either intentional or just part of a server protocol update. You could try using a file format converter to convert a file from .jpg/.jpeg format to .avif format before uploading. AI: QUESTION: Why would a website be able to upload a .avif file but not a .jpg/.jpeg file? A website might allow AVIF uploads but block JPEG uploads because it's optimized for modern formats, offering superior compression (smaller files, faster loads) and better quality (HDR, wide color), with server-side conversions often turning JPEGs into AVIFs automatically for performance, though an upload block usually signals server-side rules or plugin settings forcing new images to the newer, more efficient format for better site speed and reduced hosting costs, notes Webmasters …More
ANOTHER CLUE! It may be a royalty-free/rights issue. I saw another image posted on Gloria.tv with no trouble, and when I download the image I found that it was a .avif format, which is royalty-free, one-time purchase or unlimited license, etc. option. When I changed the extension on the same image I posted before to .avif, it went through a preliminary upload process this time (which didn't happen before) then declined to post it since it wasn't a bonafide royalty-free image. They must digitally watermark them. PERHAPS it's a publishing rights issue. Perhaps Gloria.tv was getting in trouble for allowing people to post images people had no rights to and/or which are not public domain. I believe that may be the issue....possibly. OR....Just a file size issue, as .avif files are much smaller. AI: AVIF (AV1 Image File Format) is a modern, open-source image format that offers superior compression, delivering higher quality images at significantly smaller file sizes than older formats like …More
