Bishop Silvio José Báez, auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Managua, Nicaragua was attacked by a mob while defending the Basilica of San Sebastián in Diriamba. He posted his harrowing story on Twitter along with pictures of his bloodied wounds. According to Vatican News, Cardinal Leopoldo Brenes of Managua and Archbishop Waldemar Stanislaw Sommertag, the Apostolic Nuncio to Nicaragua, were also “roughed up.”
