The chapel of Tadoussac | La chapelle de Tadoussac - Quebec.
The chapel of Tadoussac is erected between A.D. 1747 and A.D. 1750 on a place which is already rich in history. By its position at the confluence of the Saguenay River and the St. Lawrence River, two major commercial arteries, this natural harbor is a strategic location. Amerindians have traded there since prehistoric times, and European merchants frequent it since the middle of the 16th century. In A.D. 1600, Pierre de Chauvin de Tonnetuit (died in A.D. 1603) founded the first trading post of New France and tried in vain to establish a permanent establishment.
