Divine Mercy Sunday in Chiesa di Santo Spirito in Sassia , Roma where Pope John Paul II dedicated a side altar to the Divine Mercy about ten years before his death. The Divine Mercy picture is placed over the tabernacle with a statue of Santa Maria Faustina on the left where there is also a reliquary.
The first public Mass in Rome after Pope John Paul's death was celebrated in this church at 11pm that night in April . Sister Faustina was beatified and canonized by Pope JohnPaul. He used to visit her grave on his way back from the quarry where he was used for forced labour while an underground seminarian. She had died only a few years before.
