St Hyacinth.

A statue of the Dominican friar, St Hyacinth of Poland, overlooking Rosary Square in Lourdes. Called the apostle of Poland, St Jacek received the habit of the Order from St Dominic c.1217 and he preached in preached in Poland, Pomerania, Denmark, Prussia, Lithuania, Sweden, Norway, Russia, China, and Tibet. He is often depicted holding a statue of Our Lady and a monstrance because on one occasion he rescued a monstrance with the Host, and a statue of Our Lady - which was deemed to large and heavy for any one person to carry - from a fire. Today, 17 August, is his feast day.
