Gothic Juxtaposition.

Located at 'The Sanctuary' in London is the great medieval Abbey church of Westminster, and next to it is the Neo-Gothic building designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott in 1854 for Westminster School. Although they were completed many centuries apart, they show the contrast between ecclesiastical and civic Gothic architecture. Between these two buildings is a tall marble and stone column, erected in 1861 and designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, which remembers former pupils of Westminster School who died in the Crimean War 1854-1856 and the Indian Mutiny 1857-1858.
