A Daughter: Jesuit University Names First Woman and Lay President
Tania Tetlow was unanimously elected president of Jesuit Fordham University in New York, which was founded in 1841 and has about 15,000 students.
Before, Tetlow was president of Jesuit Loyola University New Orleans. During her tenure Loyola’s enrolment grew by 11%.
Tetlow is the daughter of former Jesuit Father Louis Mulry Tetlow (+2017) who left the Jesuits after 17 years, married in 1970 and later taught psychology in Catholic educational institutes. When he died, donations were requested for the “Women's Ordination Conference.”
