Self-Centred: Francis Tries to Be “Himself”

Francis replied that “the important thing, in whatever profession life puts you in, is that you do not stop being yourself, with your own personality.”
He believes that a person who changes his personality to get into a place, or “if life has put him in that place,” is “an artificial person, and in that he loses himself.”
Irascible Francis also thinks that “one must always feel things as they come” and “never, never disguise feelings.” He called being pope “a work” and “a job” which he must do “according to my personality.”
“I try to be myself, not to take artificial positions,” he concluded.
Compare this with Mt 16,24, “If anyone wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
