German Madhouse: Protestant “Bishopess" Attacks Priesthood at Catholic Ordination

Before the first blessing of two new priests who were just ordained by Fulda Bishop Michael Gerber, Germany, at a 22 May ceremony, Gerber asked the Protestant bishopess of Kurhessen-Waldeck, Beate Hofmann, who was present, to address the assembly.

Hofmann took the floor saying that it was "unusual and so far unique" for a Protestant "bishopess" to speak at a Catholic priestly ordination. She explained this as a return visit to Gerber's presence at a Protestant installation in October 2020.

Revealing a well-founded Protestant inferiority complex she added: "I would have been happy not only to participate in the celebration, but also to officiate at the ordinations and to receive Communion, because like you [= Bishop Gerber] I am ordained in Word and Sacrament and have a long spiritual journey toward this office behind me."

Theological differences about ministry and doctrine "still" prevent her project, she admitted, as does the fact that women are not ordained in the Church. Protestants do not believe in the sacrament of ordination.

Hofmann expressed her hope that the two newly ordained will experience female priests during their lifetime. Being wrong again, she added that "together we proclaim the good news of God's unconditional grace and love” - as God's grace is indeed undeserved, but not unconditional. In the end, no one clapped, although this has become customary at Novus Ordo events.

All 26 comments under the livestream had no sympathy for Hofmann's "unbelieving relativist mainstream blah blah", which they called "terrible," "rude," "disrespectful to the newly ordained," and a "reflection of the run-down, decadent German sect church."
