Francis: “Resignation Doesn’t Cross My Mind”

Francis has reassured Brazilian bishops during a June 20 Ad Limina visit that resigning “does not cross his mind” (VaticanNews.va).

According to Porto Velho Archbishop Roque Paloschi, 65, he said that “I want to live my mission as long as God allows me and that’s it,” when asked about his health.

Italian born Father Lucio Nicoletto, the administrator of Brazil’s Roraima Diocese, was impressed by the “great strength” displayed by the aging pontiff.

In early June, Cardinal Rodríguez Maradiaga called resignation rumors nothing more than “fake news” comparing them to “a cheap soap opera.”

"It never crosses his mind" Bet it does with thousands of the faithful.

Ideologues typically cling tightly on their vision to the very end.

No .....he will never resign......we need an Imperfect Council to investigate all potential Canonical errors involved in the process of his coming to the Chair of Peter..... starting with the fact that he was a very well entrenched commie heretic for decades before March 13, 2013.
How ever is it possible for a heretic to be validly elected Pope??????

@Tony M You can blame mccarrick for that. If we had "Real" Catholics in the vatican, they would throw him out by what mccarrick did alone.

For once he's not lying!! He'd prefer caving into a man-made hole, with all his Motu Proprio, rather than 'resign'. He has a 'mission'. He's been waiting to make it happen since 2005 (when he was already waiting to be 'elected pope'). He had to wait until 2013 to formally sit on 'that throne'. Who would think for a second that he would 'resign'?! Sadism from inside out, typical of the pacha-mama-…More

It would be typical behaviour for a sociopath never to resign - even if their time in whatever office they held was a complete disaster. Fortunately, the end of Francis's pontificate is known to God, and it's up to Him when and how it happens. Even though he might like to, Francis doesn't get to call all the shots.

Whether he resigns or is forced to go some other way, Lord make it soon.
