Too Expensive: Freezing Convent

The twelve nuns of the Conceptionist Convent in León, Spain, use candles and lanterns at night due to rising electricity prices.

They pay up to €265 per megawatt – compared to €125 in the US.

The convent is big, and they can turn on the heating only for a couple of hours in the morning, a nun told (November 22). Presently, the temperatures in León are between 0 and 7 degrees.

The beauty and purity of their sacrifice is glorious to behold. It is most pleasing to the Holy Mother.
