In 1956 he was asked the question: “What kind of times are we about to face?” His answer: “Christianity is getting old, and God allows it as a punishment of the people.” In 1961 shortly before the Second Vatican Council began, Padre Pio was asked: “How do you see our times?” His answer: “These are the times of the destruction of all values.” In 1966, Second Vatican Council was over, Padre Pio was again asked to describe the present situation. His answer: “Confusion of ideas and predomination of thieves.”

Further, more Americans believe in the devil than in God, George Barna, from the Arizona Christian University found. He writes, “Tens of millions of Americans consider themselves to be Christian but do not believe that God is really in control or cares what happens to them." The Iowa bishops, Dubuque Archbishop Jackels, Davenport Bishop Zinkula, Sioux City Bishop Nickless, and Des Moines Bishop Joensen have decided to continue with the suspension of public Masses. The health and survival of the elderly is still a grave concern to them because many parishioners and priests fall within these groups. While the bishops are in for the long haul, although solutions could be found, Iowa is about to reopen businesses and entities which have been closed since March 17.

Everybody knows that Italy has become an epicentre of the coronavirus. Since then, precautionary measures against the virus have become very important. On Tuesday, the Italian Prime Minister visited Genua – obviously wearing a face mask. As can be seen from the picture, the journalists, present on that occasion, practiced their own form of “social distancing”. The Catholic journalist Aldo Maria Valli wrote: “Imagine what would have happened if such a gathering had been formed by faithful waiting to enter a church for Mass.”
