Paraguayan Priest Celebrates Eucharist as Show - with Music and Dance (Video)

Redemptorist priest Freddy Romero, 35, of the Santa Ana parish in Bañado Sur de Asunción, Paraguay, makes the congregation “vibrate” with his musical performances during the Eucharists, reports UltimaHora.com (29 June): “He revolutionises the celebrations”.

Fr Romero entered the seminary at the age of 17 and was ordained a priest at 27. He plays seven musical instruments, including violin, cello, piano, organ and guitar and engages as a composer and musician.

His most popular liturgical scandal in his parish is the "Cumbia Eucharist" every Wednesday evening.

"Cumbia" is a musical genre and dance style that originated in Colombia. It combines elements of indigenous, African, and Spanish traditions with a beat that is typically in 2/4 time.

Some of the lyrics of the songs are his own and others are songs that he has adapted to the cumbia style. He also plays polkas and gets the parishioners dancing.

On the last Sunday of the month, Romero prepares a children's Eucharist, which he calls "Misa Mita'i". In this celebration, all the songs are animated by the children. Sometimes, Romero enters the church dressed as a clown and takes off his costume to begin the Eucharist.

It's obvious that the Catholics go to Mass to be entertained, right? This garbage only chases away Catholics who love the faith.

He's probably gay as well. Those people love to do things like this, as well as put on costumes, "liturgical dance", etc.

Bishop Rogelio Ricardo Livieres Plano was the ordinary of la ciudad del este Paraguay and would not send his men to the regional seminary of Paraguay. He was fired by
Francis for not being colegial . See why

This lame clown for a priest shows why many Catholics are leaving the Church to join Protestant ones. Since the awful music is basically the same in both churches, why not join a church where there are no rules?

Exactly, modern "contemporary Christian praise music" is sooo cringe. In my summer travels, even when one finds a decent parish architecturally to attend Mass, you know your day is ruined when you see the "music minister" guitar guy & the cantoress come up to the altar! Yikes!! 😱

Yet, Vat 2 documents state that Latin and Gregorian chant are to be retained. These bozos claim Vat 2 all day but in reality they don't even follow it.
Louis IX
Oh bet even those calls for Gregorian chant and Latin to be retained came with exceptions so they could later be jettisoned.

The documents, if you've read them in whole are quite conservative in language and context, constantly reaffirming (but not giving any new doctrines) past magisterial encyclicals and Apostolic Tradition. The SSPX's position as stated by Bishop Fellay is that 97% of Vat 2 affirms standard Catholic doctrine and the SSPX accepts it. The 3% of documents on which the SSPX finds problematic are on ecumenism, and conciliarism, for example, which need to be revised and clarified in order to come in line with Sacred Tradition. This he (Fellay) said, could be accomplished by a later pope or council.
